THE HONEY HAS TO GO BUT I CAN KEEP MY PEANUT BUTTER:))

Woke up to 10F temps this morning with a windchill of -4 thrown in for good measure.  I was on the constant run today keeping our front yard birds and squirrels fed.  This cold weather sure has brought out their ravenous appetites.

SOMETIMES WHEN THE SQUIRRELS CAN'T GET ONTO THE BIRDFEEDER I HAVE TO BRING MY LADDER OUT TO HELP THEM GET UP THERE.....:))  >>>>>>>
I was at my 9 a.m. Maitland Valley Medical appointment on time this morning to talk with diabetic Nurse Tanya.  Nice lady and she took her time to explain to me about the diabetes I now have.  Luckily it is still in a reversible stage if I can make the necessary changes to reverse it.  I'm up to that challenge and have 3 months to get myself straightened out and my numbers down into an acceptable range.  Of course a lot of food talk this morning and as expected I will be dropping the honey from my peanut butter and honey habit.  Peanut butter is Okay and luckily I had switched over to 'natural' peanut butter a number of years ago.  No salt, sugar, or other stuff like the most popular brands.  Kraft makes Only Peanuts and that is what I eat.  I came away from my diabetes meeting this morning with a lot of helpful information and three words for myself.  And they were my words not the Nurses words.  "Smarten up Al"!!
THIS IS MY IDEA OF A WAITING ROOM...SPACIOUS WITH HARDLY ANYBODY IN IT:))
Temperatures remained very cold for the rest of the day so I stayed inside except for a brief walk over around our Park's pond.  Too cold to go any farther.  Promised Pheebs extra Jeep rides and walks soon as it warms up bit.  Predictions for Saturday are 27F.  Could be tropical.
THANKS TO PHEEBS FOR GETTING ME OUT ON THESE VERY COLD DAYS

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The first woman was elected U.S. president. She called her mom to make sure she was coming to the inauguration. "I don’t know, dear. What would I wear?”"Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll send a designer to help you.”"But you know I need special foods for my diet.”"Mom, I’m going to the president. I can get you the food you need.”"But how will I get there?”"I’ll send a limo, Mom. Just come!”"OK, OK, if it makes you happy.”The great day came, and Mama was seated with the future cabinet members. She nudged the man on her right. “See that girl, the one with her hand on the Bible? Her brother’s a doctor!”

Boy Monster: Did you get the big red heart I sent you for Valentines?
Girl Monster: Yes, I did. Thank you.
Boy Monster: Is it still beating?

  1. Congratulations on your PSA number. I've been using honey as a sweetener for years, and for some reason which I have forgotten, I thought it was good for me, I guess I'll have to look into that a little more carefully.

  3. I've read that apple slices with peanut butter before bed apparently helps stop drastic overnight sugar level issues. Who knew?!

  4. Welcome to the below 1.0 PSA club. Good luck on your diet changes, it's the hardest thing to do in my opinion but the benefits are huge as we get older.

  6. Al, 'try' Sugar Free Hungry Jack syrup, it is real good...can't even tell it is sugar free. We use it as a substitute for anything calling for sugar...not sure how it would taste with peanut butter, but it is worth a try. There are other brands, but Hungry Jack is the best we have found.

    1. Hi. Did you look at the ingredients in that syrup? It's full of chemicals. It is the chemicals in food that cause inflammation and sickness.

  7. Being able to make big improvements with just an improved diet is such a blessing. We probably all could just some fine tuning in that area!! Your critters are so pretty and are very lucky to have such a nice cafeteria in your garden :-)

  8. Beautiful bird pictures. Brrrr, looks cold from here in Florida. So sorry to hear about the diabetes but glad to know you can beat it back. All these things that happen as we get older are, I guess, the price we pay for living so long. Or at least some of us are lucky enough to get to pay it.
