AN OVERNIGHT DUMP OF SNOW AND AL'S COVERT OPERATION OVER A DECADE AGO

MOST SNOW WE ENCOUNTERED THIS MORNING WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE WHEN A GUST OF WIND BLUE A PILE OF SNOW OFF THE OVERHEAD PINE TREES
We woke up to another winter wonderland.  A bone chilling cold but at least it looked nice.  I would still much prefer to wake up to a beautiful Arizona mountain sunrise spreading it's myriad colors and pastel hues across the sweeping Sonoran desert's floor.
I'LL BE GETTING MY SNOW SHOVEL OUT WHEN PHEEBS AND I GET BACK
STILL IN OUR PARK
ROADS WERE A BIT SLIPPERY BUT NOT BAD
Kelly had planned on going to Goderich this morning so Pheebs and I ventured out for half an hour to check the roads.  We rolled around through Bayfield then headed home.  With roads being an icy hard packed snow, sand, and salt combination I figured it was best we take the Jeep, so the Jeep we did take and away we did went.
LAKE HURON WATERS ARE BEGINNING TO FREEZE UP ALONG BAYFIELD'S SHORELINE
I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE BAYFIELD RIVER ALREADY FROZE OVER
THIS FISHING BOAT IS FROZEN IN
SEEN A LOT OF SNOW PLOWS AND BLOWERS BUSTLING ABOUT AROUND TOWN
DESPITE THE FREEZING COLD WORK CONTINUES ON THE BAYFIELD BRIDGE
TOOK OURSELVES FOR A DRIVE AROUND A FEW BAYFIELD STREETS
BET THEY HAVE A WOOD STOVE IN THERE EH
Kelly had one Walmart stop, a clothing store stop, a butcher shop stop, and a library stop.  In between all that we also had an A&W breakfast coupon stop.  And yes we even made it for a swing down around the harbor for a Pheeber stop as well.  Highways were bare by the time we left Goderich so we took #21 home.
GODERICH HARBOR IS FROZEN OVER AND NOTICE HOW THESE CANADA GEESE HAVE THEMSELVES PUFFED UP AGAINST THE COLD
ONE SHIP AT THE SIFTO SALT DOCK AND THIS IS IT'S EMERGENCY ESCAPE POD
SPOTTED THIS TRUCK IN FRONT OF WALMART
SAW THIS BIG BUTTERFLY IN DOWNTOWN GODERICH
Before even going into the house I locked myself onto the end of my snow shovel and powered my way around the house making all my little interconnected paths.  Best to get them plowed in in case we get any more snow.  Because it is still well below freezing the three inch snowfall was light and easy to move around.  In other words it's not the stuff one can make a snowman out of.
HERE'S SQUIRRELY TRYING TO SAW THROUGH THE LID OF OUR GALVANIZED CORN CONTAINER CAN
I always try to make a point of checking my camera settings before heading out and this morning I forgot so I shot most everything on a wrong setting really messing up the colors.  I found it difficult later with my limited Picasa photo editing program to set things right
but it is what it is.
I LOVE TO SEE HOUSES WITH COLOR
IT'S THE GREEN DOOR THAT CAUGHT MY EYE IN THIS ONE
Still working on my massive photo project and must say so far I don't think I've made a mess of things yet.  Heavy on the 'yet' of course.  Plus side of this project is I'm finding things I had long ago forgotten about.  Found all my RV travel posts from our first year of travel from the Fall of 2006 to the Spring of 2007.  Would like to somehow get them into my Blogger archives in chronological order but not sure how to do that.
YUP AND IT'S THE TURQUOIS DOOR THAT GRABBED ME HERE
HEY WHAT THE HECK.....THAT'S OUR PLACE:))
In a perfect world I wish I knew someone who could set up Lightroom for me and professionally install Word Press as well.  I know folks who have switched to Word Press and love it but I also know that most of them had a bear of a time figuring things out.  I have a massive number of photos and well over 4,000 posts which I would want transferred to Word Press and I don't even know if that can be done.  I do have a Word Press account but I've been leery of messing with it in fear of losing precious photos and posts.  And, I might be switching back to Live Writer soon,  Live Writer has been up and running again 'trouble free' for quite awhile but I've been trying to struggle along with Blogger.  Yes, Blogger has some good features but I just don't like it.  Kelly's working on the latest Live Writer fix and if she can get it up and running I'll switch back to Live Writer.  Of course as I said, 'in a perfect world.'
::An Archive Post:: It was in the month of October 2008 when I received a long distance phone call from someone far away requiring my help.  I was asked to do something which could not be done in broad daylight.   I would have to carry out the operation in the dead of night and not be caught.  I was the guy for the job and here is my story......A Covert Operation Under The Cover Of Darkness.
::Al's Musical Favs:: Passage by Will Ackerman.  One of my all time favorite guitarists.
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at a Catholic Hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how he was going to pay for his treatment.  She asked, "Do you have health insurance?"  He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance."  The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?"  He replied, "No money in the bank."  The nun asked, "Do you have a relative who could help you?"  He said, "I only have a spinster sister, who is a nun."  The nun became agitated and announced loudly, "Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God."  The patient replied, "Then send the bill to my brother-in-law."---------------------
A high level Politician was sitting on the train reading the newspaper. The headline read, "12 Brazillian Soldiers Killed." He shook his head at the sad news, then turned to the stranger sitting next to him and asked, "How many is a Brazillian?"

The teacher of the Earth Science class was lecturing on map reading.  He spent the class explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees, and minutes. Towards the end of class, the teacher asked his students, "Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude..."A student's voice broke the confused silence, and volunteered, "I guess you'd be eating alone, sir."

  2. Hi Al. Would you point me to the latest information on Open Live Writer. I would love to get it back working on my computer. It seems no matter how I lay things out in Blogger, it never posts the same.

  3. Let us know if you get LiveWriter working again, and what the fix is? Sure hate the Blogger editor. Visited Palm Canyon today, and thought of you and our jeep trip out into Kofa from Stone Cabin I think it was. Chilly 14C out here now, but at least no clouds or precip.

  4. Loved that last cartoon. Snow does look wonderful in pictures. Too bad it has to be cold. Lots of pretty houses in the Bayfield area. I can't tell the coloring is off. Your photos look great as always.

  5. The snow photos look nice with sunny clear skies and fresh fallen snow, form inside here, but like you much prefer the winter scenes of the southwest.
