A QUIET SUNDAY BUT A GOOD SUNDAY TO SPEND SOME MORE TIME WANDERING DOWN MEMORY LANE

MY VERY MUCH MOST FAVORITIST BOONDOCKING SITE IN 13 YEARS
With temps over 40F a feller couldn't ask for much more than that eh.  Well, don't get me started on that one but we did, with smiles, take what the merciful weather Gods handed us today.  A touch of cold wind but the solution to that was easy.  Stay out of the wind and that is what I did after Pheebs and I took a short hop to Goderich and back.  Spent another enjoyable couple hours outside in our wind protected Park with my lawn rake and pitch fork raking up pine needles, leaves, and trimming up snow damaged shrubs.  Especially loved the occasional bursts of sunshine.  My latest hanging bird feeder configuration didn't last long.  Blacky simply shimmied down the wire onto the green garbage can lid and when that tipped down he simply did a double hand jive and triple back flip onto the suet feeder underneath.  Took the configuration down and moved the two feeders over to the bird station and hung them underneath.  Squirrels can't get up the black PVC pipe.  Good thing because we actually had 3 black Squirrels in our front yard this afternoon.  Chipmunks too but no sign of Little Red.  I'm back to the 'hanging birdfeeders' drawing board again:((
FIRST TIME I'VE EVER SEEN A MUSHROOM GROWING OUT OF A TREE AND IT'S IN OUR BACK YARD
THAT'S A BIG HOPPER FULL OF CORN OUT THERE
WELL NOW I KNOW HOW THE BIRDS AND SQUIRRELS FEEL WHEN SOMEONE IS TAKING PHOTOS OF THEM THROUGH OUR SUNROOM WINDOWS
PHEEBS HAS REALLY TAKEN TO HER NEW DOGGY BEDS
::Memory Lane::  From February 14th to 20th in 2008 we were boondocked out past the Indian Cemetery west of Darby Well Road near Ajo Arizona.  In our 13 years boondocking it was this spot I loved the most.  We were totally on our own with nobody in sight.  Here is my photo album covering those days...Boondocking In The Ajo Highlands.  If anyone is interested in what we did for the days we were there you can go to our Archives at the top of my blog's right hand side bar.  Just click 'Blog Archive' and scroll down to the month and year.  By using the 'Older Post' or 'Newer Post' feature at the bottom of each post you can find my writings for those exact days...………...
THIS WAS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOONDOCKING SPOT AND IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU CAN SEE KELLY STRETCHED OUT UNDER THE AWNING
YEP THAT'S US  WAY OUT THERE
OUR LITTLE CORA (MOTORMOUSE) WAS A PART OF THE ORIGINAL BAYFIELD BUNCH ALONG WITH MAX AND CHECKERS

GROANER'S CORNER:(( At a southern university, students in the psychology program were attending their first class on emotional extremes. "Just to establish some parameters," said the professor to the student from Arkansas, "what is the opposite of joy?" "Sadness," said the student. "And the opposite of depression?" he asked of the young lady from Oklahoma. "Elation," she said. "And you sir," he said to the young man from Texas, "what about the opposite of woe?" The Texan replied, "Sir, I believe that would be 'giddy up' ."

A guy goes to see the doctor for his aching shoulder problem. The doctor said, "Okay, it is a bit inflamed. What I want you to do is put a bag of frozen peas on it, on and off for a week."  "The peas will work?" the guy asked.  The doctor replies, "Yes, just give peas a chance."

  1. The desert w/mountains view is absolutely gorgeous. For 73 years I have yearned to travel to the southwest part of the United States. Never the first chance did I have. Al, have you ever been to the petrified forest? I forget what state it's in.
Have introduced myself to Jim Hagarty's writings - goodness, he is truly good! "Poor Daddy" made me laugh till I cried. Read it in one sitting.

  3. I have tried to sell my dear wife on camping up above Ajo, to have these views. But, every time we go up there, we see several Border Patrol wagons working the area. She prefers to be a little closer to other camps. So, we always set up down by Why.

I am enjoying your side trips down memory lane.

  4. A friend of mine posted a video of squirrels climbing a ground mounted, tall metal hook to his feeder. Then, he lubed it up with some WD40 and taped the little guys climbing up and sliding back down. Fun, but who has time to keep the lube going.

  5. It's great to dwell on memory lane, and right now I am relegated to do the same, but hey, don't give it up yet, Al. Both of you can still enjoy more trips south. I know the insurance is a problem, but I would even be going without it. I hate insurance companies as they try to rule our lives with their insane policies. I refuse to accept that for myself. Years ago, when we had to see a doc in El Centro we had supplemental insurance. We dropped off the papers signed a bunch of documents and when we got home we received a $4500 bill from the hospital as the company denied to pay. bad luck. I will never sign up again.

  6. Love that area around Ajo and plan to make a trip at least by spring, maybe sooner. Of course if I had not been reading your blog I would have never known about Ajo. It was such an attraction it was high on the list of places to move to. I guess the hounds wouldn't mind a roadtrip to Ajo.

  7. After reading many blog posts on Darby Road I was shocked to see the huge tailings pile alongside when we finally made it there! It is a beautiful area and one I look forward to getting back to. Your tree mushroom looks huge.
