WELL I GUESS OUR NEXT LONG WEEK-END WILL BE THANKSGIVING THEN IT'S ON TO CHRISTMAS

AFTERNOON WALK
Hardest thing about long week-end Mondays is trying to remember it's not Sunday.  Sounds like a line from an Abba song doesn't it.  Hard to believe it's Labor Day already when only a few weeks ago it was the May 21rst week-end.  It's back to school time and I still have faint memories of my Mother walking me up the long school sidewalk on my first day of.  I was six years old and remember my first grade teacher to this very day and can still see and hear her in my mind's eye.  Oh to travel back to those days even for a few minutes.
Loaded up the Boogs and it was up to Goderich and back with us.  Just can't stay away from driving the long boardwalk beach and I often think how fortunate we are to live so close to a major body of fresh water like Lake Huron.
MORNING WALK FOR A LADY AND HER DOG ON THE BOARDWALK

PASTORAL MORNING
HERE'S PHEEBS CHECKING THE TREE TOPS FOR SQUIRRELS
Home again it was a perfect weather morning for hauling out my electric hedge trimmers and tackling some much needed trimming in our back yard.  When the weather's not too hot or too cold I really enjoy this kind of yard stuff.  As long as I have the interest and energy to get at it that is.
SIGNS OF LATE SUMMER
Pheebs and I had another nice 'bug free' forest walk around the Park's Pine Tree Trail.  It's that time of year where there isn't too much moving in the woods with only an occasional squawking of Crows somewhere far off.  Kind of a very early lull to the coming of Winter in a few months.  The lush greens of Spring have turned a deeper hardened green signifying the passing by of late Summer.  In another month the fiery reds, yellows and oranges of Autumn will be fast upon us.
OUR PARK'S POND NEAR OUR HOUSE
I HOPE THIS PILE OF LOGS IS NOT LEFT HERE TO ROT INTO THE GROUND
GROANER'S CORNER:((  A plane hit a patch of severe turbulence and the passengers were holding on tight as it rocked and reeled through the night. A little old lady turned to a minister who was sitting behind her and said, "You're a man of God. Can't you do something about this?"He replied, "Sorry, I can't. I'm in sales, not management."

“Buying a new toilet was a big expense for me, so I decided to sit on it for a while.”

Saw a lad standing on one leg at an ATM. Confused, I asked him what he was doing?Said he was just checking his balance.

  1. Great photos as always Al, but I have not read much lately about the squirrel war games. Did you win?

  2. Love the 3 thistles and the monarch butterflies photos tonight. Plants are starting to change, but there are still beautiful blooms. Three day holidays don't mean as much once you are retired... except you can't wait for all those people to get back to work and school so it is quieter on the Seattle streets for us elders.

  3. I love the cone flowers. Yes, the older we get, the faster time flies.

  5. Mrs. Maddox was my first grade teacher. She was a little portly older "Granny" type lady who never raised her voice. She loved everyone of us. Nice photos Al...Stay strong my friend!

  6. I remember my first day in school. We had outhouses, but the 4th grade and up had indoor plumbing. I guess we had to pay our dues for the first three years (grin). I bet I just gave my age away.

  7. Loved the photo of the cows They are such inquisitive creatures, and if you stand there long enough they seem to gravitate towards you. Especially if you have a dog with you!

  8. Dennis and I aren't too sure we will get away at all this Winter. I have resigned myself to it, so if we get to go, I will be pleasantly surprised. Keep looking for that perfect Bayfield Campermobile!!!
