WHAT KIND OF A CAMERA DO I USE

As long as Pheebs and I are able to head out early enough each morning to beat the summer heat we're just fine and today was no exception. Our country road travels took us a little further afield than usual as we headed northeast and wandered ourselves around south of  Belgrave which is north of Clinton and just south of Wingham Ontario.  An absolutely gorgeous Saturday morning in our pastoral southwestern Ontario rural farm land.

I am sometimes asked what kind of a camera I use for my photos.  I have a number of cameras and lenses but the one I use exclusively is my Nikon D7200 DSLR with a Nikkor 18-300mm zoom lens.  A generous blog reader a few years ago gave me a D7200 (along with other cameras, lenses, and equipment) as a gift and I have used it most every day since.  Up until I was gifted the D7200 I always slugged two Nikon DSLR's around with me everywhere I went as well as two separate lenses.  One camera with an 18-55mm lens on it and the other camera with a 55 to 300mm lens.  Quite cumbersome and awkward hiking around through forests and deserts alike not to mention the difficulty of juggling two bulky cameras around in the front seat of our Jeep.  After reading up on lenses a bit I decided to pare things down to one camera and one lens so decided on Nikon's 18-300mm lens.  This one lens on my D7200 took the place of two.  I chose this lens mainly for versatility.  Not being a perfectionist with a lot of patience I sacrificed a bit of quality for ease of use and have not regretted that decision ever since.  Great camera and a great lens.  Below are two photos showing first an 18mm wide angle shot and then a 300mm telephoto shot.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Farmer Jones goes to the vet and says, "My horse is constipated.  "The vet says, "Take one of these pills, put it in a long tube, stick the other end in the horse's rear end, and blow the pill up there."

Farmer Jones comes back the next day, and he looks very sick.  The vet says, "What happened?  "Farmer Jones says, "The horse farted first."

  3. [From Craig] I've settled on a similar combination like yours, a Nikon D850 and a Nikon 28-300mm lens. Because the D850 has a bigger sensor, the wide end of my lens can not be as wide as yours. But we both have very similar photo configurations.

  4. I still have a Nikon D-7200 with Tamron 18-400mm in Alaska and a Nikon D-7200 with Tamron 16-300mm in Florida. Very happy with them except for the weight. My picture taking is about 1/4 of what it was since I took a vacation from blogging.
Sure enjoyed that sick horse Groaner.
