A MORNING WALK IN THE BANNOCKBURN CONSERVATION AREA BETWEEN RAIN SHOWERS

Getting a little low on Finch Food Pheebs and I followed the Jeep's windshield wipers all the way to Sun Country in Clinton where we picked up a bag of Finch food and a couple peanut butter based suet blocks.  Our front yard birds love that stuff and turn their beaks up at the other suet blocks I have bought at Walmart.

With my mood matching the dreary rain soaked morning I didn't much care if the Jeep ended up looking like it had just come out of a muddy field.  Heading south out of Clinton we grabbed the first mud soaked road heading west and splashed and splattered our way over to the Bannockburn Conservation Area.

Only intending a quick leg stretch in the parking lot under rainy skies I was surprised when the rain stopped just as was arrived there so with camera around my shoulder off we went along the boardwalk.  Fearing rains would start again we didn't go to far but far enough to russle up a few photos along the way.  Pheebs is always so happy to get out and onto the trail.  Most of her time is spent with her nose to the ground.  It did start to drizzle a bit but we were back to the Jeep by then and on our way home.

THIS SHALLOW CREEK HAS WORKED FOR DECADES TO UNDERMINE THIS LARGE CEDAR TREE ON IT'S BANK
Happy to say it's been over 24 hours now since I re-vamped our bird feeding station and so far I have not seen any Squirrels.  However from past experiences over the years I am not easily fooled and fully expect to look up from computer at any time and see a full blown Squirrel convention going on right on top of the bird station.
With the power washer last week I started cleaning a bunch of patio stones (and anything else that got in my way) on the north side of our house.  With no Sun ever reaching parts of that area mold and moss build up fast requiring a good periodic cleaning.

  2. So nice that you got out and about a few picture and getting the jeep all muddled up again.
Nothing like some fresh air and exercise .

  3. You know, Al, I would give you a blue ribbon forever for your photos, but sometimes your writing is equally impressive, I laughed at your following those windshield wipers, the birds turning their beaks up, and the possible squirrel convention. Today you get a blue ribbon for writing. Be proud. Good job!

  6. We have been inundated with rain here this Spring. Davenport Iowa is under water..and it's suppose to rain again most of next week. We sure don't need anymore of that!
