I’M HOPING OPEN LIVE WRITER WILL PUBLISH THIS POST

INSIDE THE ROUTE 66 CASINO THIS MORNING

Well first and foremost I am pleased to say this post is coming to you from Open Live Writer:))  A big huge thanks to Dave over at Going RV Way for recommending a simpler fix he worked out after reading other fix explanations.  And a big thanks to Kelly this afternoon for applying Dave’s fix to my blog.

LATE SATURDAY WE CHANGED SPOTS AT THE ROUTE 66 CASINO

THAT’S US UP THERE SOMEWHERE

With Saturday's uneventful cloudy day being basically a wash-out we were up and out the door into the Jeep Sunday morning.  Wanted to double check Camping World's location for Monday morning.  Camping World was right where I remembered it to be and not at the location Google Maps currently locates it.  Much easier to check out in the Jeep today than the Motorhome first thing Monday.  From our Route 66 Casino location its an easy 10 mile drive East along the service road on I-40's north side right to Camping World.  We've been there a couple times over the years.

Back to the rig we decided to walk over to the Route 66 Casino for breakfast at the Main Street Restaurant inside.  It was our second time inside this Casino with the last being a few years ago when we slipped inside for supper at the Thunder Road Restaurant.  I know I've said this many times before but I am not a typical Casino gambling type person.  I go in because I love seeing all the colored neon lights and décor.

WONDER HOW MANY FAMOUS CELEBRITIES HAVE COME AND GONE VIA THIS REAR ENTRANCE BACKSTAGE

Since last time overnighting here at the Casino we noticed they have put in an RV Park.  It’s walled and gated but Pheebs and I on a Sunday afternoon walk were able to grab a few photos.

No idea where we will end up Monday night and I guess it depends on how our blown hydraulic line to the slide problem fares out.  Too make things worse we noticed a fluid leak down our outside rear dually tire on the Motorhome’s passenger side.  No idea what this is and may have something to do with a large unseen pot hole I drove into Friday morning west of Flagstaff Arizona.  The large pothole was located at the entrance to a Pilot/McDonald gas and food entrance.  When the rear passenger side wheels dropped into the pot hole the rig rocked violently enough to smash both our morning porcelain coffee mugs.  That pot hole drop may have damaged a brake lining or something.  Don't know if Camping World will be able to fix that or if we'll have to go to a different garage in Albuquerque.  It has been a stressful RV winter for us.  'RVing is not for the faint of heart' and don't let anyone tell you any different.

Ever since Open Live Writer packed it in over a month ago and I've been forced to use Blogger's clunky writing program (until today maybe) and with Picasa's photo editing program soon destined to bite the dust my blogging interest has been slowly but steadily waning.  Blogging has simply not been as enjoyable as it once was and it has been an effort of late trying to maintain my interest in it.  I'm hoping once we get home I can get my mind re-organized again.  Need to deal with all this traveling stress.  Basically at 74 years of age I feel I am long overdue for a major overhaul.  It seems most every day is simply becoming more of a frustrating struggle.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Nine year old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned at Sunday school. "Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. "When he got to the Red Sea, he had his engineers build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. "Then he used his walkie-talkie to radio headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved." "Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked. "Well, no. But if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"

"Daddy, did you know that girls are smarter than boys?""No, I didn’t know that.""There you go."

  1. Yay for LiveWriter. Wonderful pictures of the casino. That must have been some hole you hit. Too bad about your broken coffee mugs. And, I sure hope your interest in blogging rejuvenates. Would be a HUGE pothole in my world if I didn’t have your blog to enjoy! Hope all goes as well as can be
Expected tomorrow. You have had more than your share of trouble this season!

  4. I've never used this LiveWriter thing, so I guess when I use clunky old Blogger I don't know any difference. Works fine for me, just as it has for over 11 years.

  5. I know Blogger has a picture adding thing but I've found that after uploading them to Blogger - if you 'choose' them in the order you want them to publish it works great. At least I haven't had any trouble since learning that trick.

Regardless of what you have to do, just please keep the pics and posts coming!

    You Rock!

  6. Oh please don't quit posting. I would miss hearing what you, your wife, and dog have been up to and where you are in your travels. Just take a short break and get back at it as soon as possible, like tomorrow. . . (grin).

  7. Thanks Al and Kelly for the link to the fix for livewriter. Like you, I hate using the Blogger platform. I followed Dave's instructions for my laptop and it appears to work as before. And, don't even think about quitting. I've learned so much from following you guys for years.

  8. Al, I am glad it worked for you, and for everyone who enjoys your blog as I have for the past 10 years. I am also glad because it also works for me, and you are right, the blogger writer is clunky...not being able to resize your pictures and place there right where you want them like OLW allows makes me go GRRRRRR every time. And the text choices in OLW is so much better (both sizes and fonts). The best feature of course is you can write your blog without being online, have it ready, find a good Internet connection and it only takes a few minutes to publish.

As I wrote to Kelly, I am fairly confident that you will be fine when they take Picassa down here soon since you use the Picassa program on your computer and not online. No more Picassa updates though, and any pics you have online with Picassa had best be removed ASAP (but I doubt you have any there).

  9. Dennis turns 77 this April, and we hope to get at least one more Winter RV trip in next year. Between A-Fib, sleep apnea and a pacemaker insertion, he HAS had a complete overhall. I know one thing...being in Illinois for the Winter is not fun. Maybe it's time to hang up the RV and look for a Winter Condo in the South! My blog has been dormant for a year. I cannot find much to blog about here except medical issues!

  10. All part of the "life" getting to visit repair spots along the way :-) Going somewhere familiar is always a plus. Love the casino pics. If I don't have to smell the stinky smoke I enjoy visiting the colors and lights as well. Hope your sunny skies last awhile. We have another three days of rain coming up here in SoCal.

  11. Not for the faint of heart indeed. However there is stress no matter where one is and what one does, it's how we deal with the stress that makes the difference. Good luck with the repairs!
