DIDN'T FIND THE TUNDRA SWANS

SPRING CLEAN-UP HAS BEGUN
It was 8:30 a.m. and all three of us were in the Jeep under clear blue skies heading south on highway 21 towards Grand Bend.  Air was cold and winds made it colder but with sunshine beaming through the Jeep windows we were toasty warm.  This is the time of year thousands of Tundra Swans annually stop for a weeks rest on their way to the Arctic Tundra.  I've seen them south of Grand Bend in the Thedford Bog and they literally turn the ground white with so many of them being there.  I guess we just missed them because we heard they were there a few days ago.  Aside from seeing a couple small gatherings half a mile away around some  water in a feield we did not see what we had hoped to see.  Oh well no matter, it was just nice getting out for an outing this morning.
ONLY TUNDRA SWANS WE SAW WERE HALF A MILE AWAY
IN GRAND BEND FOR A COFFEE AND MORNING GLORY MUFFIN STOP
Returning home close to noon I was quite content to get myself out into the yard with my leaf rake and begin the Spring clean-up.  Would I have rather still been somewhere in the Southwest??  Nope, I was quite happy to be right where I was doing what I was doing.  But to be fair I should also say that I have much the same feeling near the end of each year when we arrive in the great American Southwest and cross the New Mexico State line heading on through to Arizona and California.  At that time I am quite happy to be there doing what we do:))
AWWWWW NUTS NOW THERE'S TWO OF THEM!!
DAM RACOONS ARE BACK AGAIN
I ENJOY THIS KIND OF YARD WORK
WHEN ONE LIVES IN A PINE FOREST ONE HAS A LOT OF PINE NEEDLES
MIGHT HAVE TO GET ME A CAMP FIRE GOING SOON
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A minister has just died and is standing on line waiting to be judged and admitted to Heaven. While waiting he asks the man in front of him about himself. "I'm a taxi driver from New York City".  Suddenly the angel standing at the gate calls out next, and the taxi driver steps up. The angel hands him a golden staff and a cornucopia of fruits, cheeses and wine and lets him pass. The taxi driver is quite pleased, and proceeds through the gates.  Next, the minister steps up to the angel and the angel hands him a wooden staff and some bread and water. The minister is very concerned and asks the angel, "That guy is a taxi driver and gets a golden staff and a cornucopia! I spend my entire life as a minister and get nothing! How can that be?"  The angel replies, "Up here we judge on results.  All of your people sleep through your sermons and in his taxi, they pray."

  2. Glad you got a sunny day. It feels good to be home cleaning up the nest. Your squirrels and racoons are going to keep you busy this summer. I wonder what mischief they will be up to.

  4. Well, I would like to think by the end of your summer up there, those two black fluffy tailed pranksters will no doubt have you exhausted and you'll be ready for a warm and peaceful winter vacation in the great SW... I think you're in for double the work out this summer by the looks of things... Can't wait to see who out smarts who at the Bayfield Bunch headquarters...

  5. Google knows where you live! . . . And where you go and how long you’re there. I answer short surveys for google for which I earn credit for online books and movies. My survey will often be “which of the following places did you recently visit”, multiple choice in which one is correct. I’m sure they aggregate this data from all survey takers for their own purposes, but I like “free” stuff.
