THREE MOVES IN THREE DAYS AND WE'RE BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED

Early Saturday morning we moved the rig from our overnight spot near the new Library to another area a few blocks away just off Christmas Circle.  We remained there all day Saturday and Saturday night.  I had no energy either physically or mentally to write a post or take any photos Saturday.  Instead I simply relaxed and because we had a strong Verizon signal watched a bunch of old Johnny Carson and Carol Burnett re-runs on 'You Tube'.  Sometimes my mind just needs to be calmed down by some good old fashioned simple comedy.  The way it once was and never more will be.

'CAN WE GO FOR A JEEP RIDE THIS MORNING DAD'
Early Sunday morning we were on the move again traveling only a few blocks to a new spot about half way between the old and new libraries in Borrego Springs.  No overnight parking here but we only planned on parking the Motorhome for part of the day anyway.  Our plan was to hopefully squeak back into the Legion parking lot late this afternoon after all the raucous party animals were gone.

Shortly after 1 p.m. we decided to take a drive out past the Legion to see if any of the noisy guys had left yet and to our complete surprise the Legion parking lot was completely empty with the exception of one folded up tent camper and a Class A Motorhome which looked like it was in the process of packing up.  Couldn't believe our good luck so without further adieu we turned around, went back into Borrego Springs, fired up the Motorhome and brought it right away back out to our favorite spot at the Legion.
GLAD TO BE BACK AT OUR FAVORITE LEGION SPOT

It's funny how we, the steadfast out in the desert Boondockers have taken a liking to this spot here at the Borrego Springs Legion.  Maybe it's the closeness of trees we like and at least we have a Verizon signal here although not a strong one.  We seem to like the closeness to town better too.  Our priorities are changing a bit I guess.
With it being the week-end there were more people in town but it certainly isn't crowded or congested.  That may come in a few weeks when the 'big desert flower bloom' takes place here in the Borrego Valley drawing thousand upon thousands of people to Borrego Springs.  We will make sure we are long gone by that time but do plan to slip out this coming week after all the week-enders have gone home and see if we can find us a few early desert flower blooms here and there.
Weather is sunny and with each coming day becomes warmer.  Predicted to be around 80F by the end of the week.  With the annual Peg Leg Smith Liars Contest due to draw a lot of noisy people again at the Legion next week-end we will have to be out of here Friday morning for sure.
SIXTY YEARS AGO I MIGHT HAVE FELT RIGHT AT HOME HERE
Depending on how uncomfortably hot the weather gets me may or may not leave the area for cooler northern temperatures at that time.

* Lose weight quickly by eating raw pork and rancid tuna. I found that the subsequent food poisoning and diarrhea enabled me to lose 12 pounds in only 2 days.

* Save on booze by drinking cold tea instead of whiskey. The following morning you can create the effects of hangover by drinking a thimble full of dish washing liquid and banging your head repeatedly on the sidewalk.

*Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windshield wipers turned to high whenever you leave your car parked illegally.

A: To get to the Shell station!

Q: Why did the late Dr. Kevorkian cross the road?
A: To help another patient find the other side.

Q: Why do birds fly South?
A: Because it's too far to walk.

Q: What does religion and common sense have in common?
A: Nothing!!

The new army recruit was given guard duty at 2 a.m. He did his best for a while, but at about 4 a.m. he fell asleep. He awakened to find the officer of the day standing before him.  Remembering the heavy penalty for being asleep on guard duty, this smart young man kept his head bowed for another moment and looked upward and reverently said, 'Amen'.

  1. Tierra del Sol (TDS) is next weekend - you want to be outa town or hunker down! The desert bloom happens every couple decades and is peaking now in Ocotillo Wells, a decent stop during the week.
Glad you are comfy for now!

  4. Warmer weather is welcome out here in Saddle Mountain area, it's been chilly both daytime and night time.
Glad you got your favourite spot back. It's amazing how we change as we get older. Some things that we thought we'd never like seem to be so much more enjoyable now. It is a fact of life. Keep safe, and enjoy your fav spot.
