‘FINALLY’

DSC_3381

SUNSHINE HAS BEEN IN SHORT SUPPLY THIS OCTOBER SO PHEEBS AND I QUICKLY SLIPPED OUT THIS MORNING AND SOAKED US UP SOME FOR THE SHORT TIME  IT LASTED

Been 10 days since I had my first dizzy spell while cleaning the Motorhome and with those dizzy spells (Vertigo) continuing right up until Thursday night alternating between mild and severe I have been in the dumpster both mentally and physically.  No interest in my computer these past four days so spent most of my time sitting quietly in the corner of our sunroom reading.  Had to move around slow, couldn’t look up or down without getting dizzy.  A constant mild sick feeling in my stomach and no energy or interest in pretty much anything except reading my Kindle.  Found myself in a depressive state and unable to get myself out of it.

WITH ALL THE TALK ABOUT PEOPLE SMOKING LEGALIZED GRASS IN CANADA NOW I THOUGHT I’D SHOW SOME ‘REAL GRASS’, THE KIND COWS AND PHEEBS GRAZE ON:))

Most common way to stop  dizziness is to successfully perform the  Epley Maneuver but it wasn’t successful at the hospital last week and I had been unsuccessful at doing it myself.  Every time I tried I just made myself worse.  Until Thursday night that is when after remembering something I tried it again.  Three years ago when I had this my nurse practitioner at the time (Sue Leddy) did that Epley Maneuver on me and my dizziness was instantly gone.  The Emerge doctor last week did it differently and it didn’t work.  I kept trying to do it the way Sue did it but it wasn’t working.  Then last night sitting in the corner reading I remembered something Sue had done that I had not been doing.  When lying flat on my back with my head draped over the edge of the bed turned to the extreme right I counted out 40 seconds then shifted my head to the left as far as I could and counted out another 40 seconds and it was in the turning of my head where I remembered something.  I had been turning my head from right to left slowly.  Sue had snapped my head over quickly and last night when I snapped my head over just as quickly then rolled over onto my left side, counted out another 40 seconds, I sat up without the room spinning a hundred miles and hour and knew it had worked.  By the time I stood up steadily on my feet I was already feeling better.  Just like that.  I knew better than to try any headstands or cartwheels across the floor and although tired today I definitely was physically feeling better although I was careful to not bend down too much and push my luck.  Even took Pheebs out for a Jeep ride in the morning sunshine.  I don’t seem to be back in photo mode yet  but seeing my words popping up on the screen in front of me tonight I know at least for today I’m back into my writing mode.  Might even go and see if I can rustle up a few jokes for Groaner’s Corner.

LOOKS LIKE THESE RURAL FARM FOLKS ARE ALL SET FOR A LONG COLD WINTER

Met a nice RV couple this afternoon when Dee and Mike dropped in to have a look at our Motorhome.  We have it for sale and they are definitely interested.  A recent unexpected medical issue has cropped up on their side and they will get back to us soon as they get some test results back.

MIKE CHECKS OUT A FEW THINGS ON THE RIG’S ROOF THIS AFTERNOON

If you don’t see a post from me every day from here on in, not to worry.  I will try to come up with something most every day but with no travel adventures planned for the coming months and a long winter at home ahead of us I know I will run into difficulties.  If there is something drastically wrong I will let folks know, otherwise if you don’t see a post just know I had nothing of interest to write about or take photos of that particular day.  Thanks to folks for their concerns and hanging in there…………………..

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A little boy was afraid of the dark. One night his mother told him to go out to the back porch and bring her the broom. The little boy turned to his mother and said, "Mama, I don't want to go out there. It's dark." The mother smiled reassuringly at her son. "You don't have to be afraid of the dark," she explained. "Jesus is out there. He'll look after you and protect you." The little boy looked at his mother real hard and asked, "Are you sure he's out there?" "Yes, I'm sure. He is everywhere, and he is always ready to help you when you need him," she said. The little boy thought about that for a minute and then went to the back door and cracked it a little. Peering out into the darkness, he called, "Jesus? If you're out there, would you please hand me the broom?"

- You ever talk about a movie with someone that read the book? They’re always so condescending. Ah, the book was much better than the movie. Oh really?  What I enjoyed about the movie: ‘no reading’!!

A man goes to the eye doctor. The receptionist asks him why he is there. The man complains, "I keep seeing spots in front of my eyes."The receptionist asks, "Have you ever seen a doctor?" The man replies, "No, just spots."

  7. Glad you are back and have figured out how to do the procedure properly.
Over twenty years ago I suffered a head injury at work that cause severe Vertigo for over Ten Weeks. Like being drunk but it wasn't pleasurable because the doctors said you just had to cope with it. Finally it cleared up and things went back to normal.
Fast forward to Seven Years ago, out of the blue the symptoms just reappeared but now they had something. The doctor prescribed Betahistine and told me to only take them as long as I had the problem. It cleared after a few days but weeks later return. After three months of on and off problems it finally stopped.
I remember Dee saying they were looking at an "A" Class but didn't know it was your's They are good people.
Hope the Sale goes along as planned and hope to see what kind of mischief you get into this winter.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  9. Just take one day at a time. At least, that's what I do these days. I don't have any aches or pains, however...but with driving the kindergartener to school every morning and then finding out I have to pick her up in the afternoon...OY! It's crazy and I get tired easily. Hopefully you will have good news about your RV.

  10. That is something special... when you find the maneuver that makes the vertigo go away by yourself! You are in control again. Trying to age evenly is a challenge.

  13. Nice to hear that you are feeling better now. I know Mike and Dee posted a picture of your coach quite a while ago on their site as the perfect rv for them. We have camped with them many times over the years from Peterboro Ontario . to the southwest desert , a nice couple.

  15. Nice to see you back on again, hope you are soon better. I get the occasional dizzy spells that only last a few hours so I thank you for the tip. I'll try and remember the Epley Maneuver.
Good luck out to both Dee and Mike and you and Kelly. All good people!

Glad you are better now. Maybe you should look into the DizzyFix, 2 of my friends use it as soon as they start to feel dizzy. It really helps them. Good luck.

  20. Boy Al I can see why you'd be very depressed with vertigo all the time. Sure glad you remembered the trick. Wonder why the doctor didn't know it?? Do they have any idea what causes this for you? Hope you'll find some ways to enjoy the winter there but really sorry you can't head out to the SW.

  21. Are you sure you should sell your RV? When your vertigo clears up, you may want to take another trip somewhere, even if it close by.

  22. I’ll tell you, Al...the littlest thing can be of interest. That tidbit about the speed of moving your head just might be of help to my sister....thank you!

Actually looking forward to seeing your lake effect snow photos. I always liked watching those big fluffy flakes.

  23. Thanks for the reminder on the proper move - I'll give it a try and see if it eliminates the mild Vertigo I've had this week. It definitely takes it's toll on how I feel all day.
