PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE APPLE FRITTERS

DSC_4597

Holy Smokers, 48.6F first thing this morning and by golly I thought as I slipped into a warm T-shirt that is just totally fine with me.  A long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt and I was good to go.  How invigorating to finally be refreshed by healthier cool air again.  About time:))

EARLY MORNING SEA GULLS

Here's an example of how my memory works every day now.  Priority this morning was to slip into the Bayfield Garage and pay our Manifold repair bill.   Rolling out earlier than the garage opened I figured Pheebs and I would have to put in a little time.  Plan was to head East for Clinton, pick up a coffee, then slide a few country roads further east of Clinton before turning south past a few more country roads.  Another turn West would take us towards the lake and highway 21 whereupon another right turn would lead us north to Bayfield.  Garage was right on the highway so we could stop in, pay the bill, and head on home.  Well that was the plan anyway.  About three minutes after leaving the house I totally forgot about my Bayfield Garage plan and wandered off in a totally different direction.  Returning home an hour and a half later I walked into the kitchen and Kelly said, 'how did it go at the garage??  'Awwwww Nuts'!!!!!!  Welcome to a perfectly normal day in the life of...…..me.

Tying a colorful string around my finger with a note saying 'Bayfield Garage' Kelly turned me around, patted me on my pointy little head, and sent me off straight away to the garage.  I made it this time.  Our bill $1,077.24 complete with 8 new spark plugs came in slightly under the guestimated price and well under what I thought it would eventually end up being.  Not often that happens of course and always nice when it does.  Of course I always expect the worst and hope for the best.  Thanks to the Bayfield Garage for another job well done.

Pheebs and I managed a short walk this morning but just before parking the Jeep a song come on the Sirius satellite radio.  It was an oldie from the forties, 'Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition'.  Well do you think I could stop that song from rattling around in head.  Nosireeee, over and over that line would play in my mind.  Only thing I was able to do was replace a couple of the words and change the line to, 'Praise The Lord And Pass The Apple Fritters.  There, now you've got it in your head too and I betcha your gonna go with ‘Apple Fritters’ as well aren't ya:))

Within weeks some of our Park's Snowbirds and residents will begin to scatter so this morning Gayle and Richard along with Kelly and I took our Snow Bird neighbor Monica out for lunch at the Bayfield Berry Farm.  Monica flies out for Florida in October but we won't be here.  Gayle and Richard will be heading out in a few weeks for parts unknown as well.  We have all lived within a few hundred yards of each other these past bunch of years but will soon be like seeds scattered to the wind.

Can't even begin to tell you how nice it is now being able to go outside, work away at things, and feel totally comfortable.  No heat, no humidity, no bugs, no problem:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( An 80 year old couple were having problems remembering things, so they decided to go to their doctor to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong with them. When they arrived at the doctor's, they explained to the doctor about the problems they were having with their memory. After checking the couple out, the doctor tells them that they were physically okay but might want to start writing things down and make notes to help them remember things. The couple thanked the doctor and left. Later that night while watching TV, the old man got up from his chair and his wife asks, "Where are you going?" He replies, "To the kitchen." She asks, "Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?" He replies, "Sure." She then asks him, "Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?" He says, "No, I can remember that." She then says, "Well, I also would like some strawberries on top. You had better write that down cause I know you'll forget that." He says, "I can remember that, you want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries." She replies, "Well, I also would like whip cream on top. I know you will forget that so you better write it down." With irritation in his voice, he says, "I don't need to write that down, I can remember that." He then fumes into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes he returns from the kitchen and hands her a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment and says, "You forgot my toast."

  1. Sure wish we could have those temps here already. Triple digits again this coming week. I guess Tucson didn't get the memo

  2. Post it notes work well for jotting down our stops on errand list. Your brain will thank you.

  3. Forgetting what we intend do happens to us all, Al. I have to make a written list of my stops in the order that I will make them or I will forget one or more of them.

  4. When I read "the way my memory works", I thought, Uh, oh! MY memory most likely does NOT work. Sure enough, you have the same issue. Often when I am driving, the car has a mind of its own, and does not go in the right direction! That 's what I tell Old Man when he asks how come we didn't turn where we should have. Oh, and, it is highly unusual to see Al in a group picture. (Just sayin' 😀😀)

  5. Nice to hear the repair bill was very reasonable, now you can get on the road.
Great to get together with your snow bird neighbours, before y'all head out.

  6. Perhaps forgetting to head to the garage to pay the bill was a mind thing. You really didn't want to start your day paying a bill which could have ruined the beautiful morning that you did have. All was well in the end.
