I WONDER IF THERE WOULD BE LESS HUMIDITY IN THE MARITIME PROVINCES

DSC_1993

NO WE HAVE NOT LANDED IN LUNENBURG NOVA SCOTIA YET……BUT SOON:))

Not a whole lot I can say about today that would knock anybody’s shorts off.  With humidity levels up again we were lucky it was cloudy because any kind of sunshine would have turned the day into a cooker.

LAKE HURON WAS ABOUT AS SMOOTH AS A SHEET OF GLASS THIS MORNING

COULD THIS BE THE LOST CITY OF ATLANTIS JUST OFF GODERICH’S SHORELINE??

Needing a few last minute things in Goderich Pheebs and I were off about 8 o’clock.  When we slide through McD’s drive-thru for a coffee I always get a kick out of a lady sometimes there when we pull up to pay.  Soon as she sees Pheebs her face just lights up like a thousand Suns.  She is always so happy to see Pheebs no matter how busy she is.  Makes my day to see that.  Oh, and the lady at the Solo gas bar as well.  Pheebs always gets a couple treats there.

Other than the beach and harbor we didn’t go far and we were home again well before 10 o’clock.  Down to the final couple days before departure so there’s a whole host of little last minute things to take care of and i wanted to get at them.  Saturday will be very busy for us.  We leave Sunday morning.

EVEN THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD TOOK ADVANTAGE OT TODAY’S SMOOTH WATERS

By the time we return from our Eastern travels sometime in probably November our immediate neighborhood will have changed a bit.  Richard and Gayle will be gone and new people will have moved into their house.  More new people will have moved into newly completed homes around the corner and down the street a bit.  Yes things are changing alright and we wonder what changes we will have to make to accommodate those changes.  It is a mixed bag of feelings we have about all this and and we feel there are some firm grounds for apprehension.  We’ll know and find out more after we return home in a couple months.  Now where did I put that ‘For Sale’ sign just in case………………..

Jean from British Columbia Canada in a comment on my Thursday post said, 'And you don't have to cross a border, that is always stressful for me'.  Always stressful for us as well.  Although we consider the United States our second home, border crossings are always stressful to some degree whether coming or going.  Things can go wrong at the drop of a hat and random inspections can happen at any time.  We know because we have experienced that more than once.  Travelers can have their winter plans turned upside down in a heartbeat and we know people that has happened to. One wrong word to the person in the booth and things can turn on a dime.  Entering back into Canada one might not be fully aware of a background stress level they have been carrying until they cross the border without incident and successfully return to Canadian soil.  What a great relief it always is to finally make it safely back to one's own Country.  From the Port Huron/Sarnia border to our home in Bayfield is about an hour and a half drive and is always about the most relaxing and stress free drive of our whole trip.  Can't even begin to describe the relief it always is to leave that border crossing behind us every year.  And it was always a worry we never had to worry about again for another 6 or 7 months.  Well at least not until we once again headed back to the border to enter our 5 or 6 month home away from home......the United States:))

SPOTTED IN GODERICH THIS MORNING I’M PRETTY SURE THIS IS ONE OF THE ‘OLDER TOWN AND COUNTRY’  WHEELCHAIR VANS I DROVE NEARLY A DECADE AGO

Despite a refreshingly cool morning start it turned out to be a miserable weather day for me.  The ridiculously stupid humidity has returned and brought hordes of Mosquitos with it.  By the time I finished cleaning the outside of the Motorhome this afternoon I was a soggy mass of sticky.  Only thing that saved me was a cool shower and I never went outside again.  Maybe there will be some cheap rural property somewhere in the Maritime Provinces with a low to no humidity factor in the summer.  Oh yes, and you know we will be looking at Real Estate prices while there too:))

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A Few Simple Tips To Make Life Simpler::

Old telephone books make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and addresses of people you don't know.

Fool other drivers into thinking you have an expensive car phone by holding an old TV or video remote control up to your ear and occasionally swerving across the road and mounting the curb.

Lose weight quickly by eating raw pork and rancid tuna. I found that the subsequent food poisoning enabled me to lose 12 pounds in only 2 days.

Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windshield wipers turned to fast wipe whenever you leave your car parked illegally.

No time for a bath? Wrap yourself in masking tape and remove the dirt by simply peeling it off.

Apply red nail polish to your nails before clipping them. The red nails will be much easier to spot on your bathroom carpet. (Unless you have a red carpet, in which case a contrasting polish should be selected).

If a person is choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a jug of boiling water down their throat and presto! The blockage is almost instantly removed.

Save on booze by drinking cold tea instead of whiskey. The following morning you can create the effects of hangover by drinking a thimble full of dish washing liquid and banging your head repeatedly on the floor.

A Sunday school teacher asked the children just before she dismissed them to go to church, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" Annie replied, "Because people are sleeping."

Sara: Gee, you smell good. What have you got on? Dave: Clean socks.

  1. Real Estate in some parts of The Maritimes can be surprisingly cheaper, but don't tell anyone. Just make sure you check out how the place is heated. Some of them are electric heat. Just saying.

  2. We find it exciting to cross a border. Yes, sometimes it can make your heart pump a little more rapidly, but when you have crossed as many borders as we have (including Russian border guards manning a non existent border) doing the United States is easy-peasy!

Yes, I think you would like maritime life. Our daughter and family lived in Nova Scotia for 7 years and we visited quite a few times. Slower pace of life, although I'm not sure I would like their overall weather any better than the weather anywhere else in Canada.

  3. Love it when the lake is that calm, I spent many days on the Georgian bay when it we like that in my younger years, was amazing.
I am sure you will find much cooler there in the Maritimes, and probably less humid as well.
Enjoy your trip and looking forward to you many adventures.

  4. I was in Atlantic Canada (including Maritimes and Newfoundland/Labrador) from 3rd July to 26th August last year. I can't recall any disagreeably humid days. I stayed in long pants most of the summer. It was lovely! Hope you encounter the same...I look forward to following along.

  5. I'll trade you weather? I scraped about 4" of snow off the decks here in Alberta today ...

And, whe I hit 'publish', I had to sign into Blogger - in Spanish!

  6. Love those clear water pics - definitely could be a long lost civilization! The humidity in RI isn't too bad right now, but Florence's tropical depression will move into the area in a few days and then it may get a bit "drippy" for a few days :-(

  8. My in-laws always used to go to NFLD this time every year. Mr. isn't doing so great this year so they are staying put....and missing the trip desperately. They always look at real estate when they are on the rock and came darn close to buying two years ago. But the family is here in Ontario and I think that's why they didn't move on it.
