I WAS SO COLD TONIGHT I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE TO GET WARM

A BUZZY BEE GATHERS POLLEN FROM ONE OF OUR HOSTA FLOWERS

Loaded up the little Doogins and we headed straight away for the Bayfield Garage first thing this morning.  With our departure date coming up fast we really have to get that manifold problem in the Motorhome repaired and I needed to verify they could and would do that.  So, the Big E goes in Thursday morning and we already know it’s going to be an expensive fix.

From Bayfield we slid up highway 21 to Goderich, grabbed a coffee at McD’s, and headed down to the harbor.  Not much going on but I did grab a few more pics along the beach.  Incidentally I saw a total of eight school buses this morning.

LAST FRIDAY KELLY’S DAUGHTER REBECCA, HER HUSBAND RICARDO, AND THEIR DAUGHTER ELLA STOPPED AT THE GODERICH BEACH ON THEIR WAY TO KINDARDINE SO KELLY MET THEM AT THE BEACH FOR A VISIT……IT WAS WAY TO HOT AND HUMID FOR ME TO GO

Air was slightly cooler this morning so Pheebs and I considered a walk.  While conversing thoughts with each other it began raining so that was the end of any more walking considerations.  Did make a Walmart stop though for a few RV supplies.  We were back home about 10:30 with lots of rain chasing us all the way.  With all the moisture in the air Mosquitos would have been bad in the forest today anyway.

HMMMMM, COULD IT BE THE RETURN OF INUKSHUKS ON THE GODERICH BEACH

Despite sporadic rain showers passing through our area I was still able to get a number of small things off my list before the wretched humidity began sticking parts of myself to other parts of myself.  I was back in the house by eleven.  Checking the weather I see cooler air is nearly upon us.  High 60’s and low 70’s coming up beginning Thursday.  Yes Toto there is hope for Al after all.

In a blog comment, Jodee from On The Road Abode: asked,  “It's been a while since to shared what you're reading these days”.  I did bring my book reading up to date 5 or 6 weeks ago and since then have read. ‘Woodbine Red Leader": A P-51 Mustang Ace In The Mediterranean Theater’ by George Loving.  ‘D-Days In the Pacific’ by Donald L. Miller.  ‘Top Mustang Ace’ by George Preddy.  ‘Channeling the Guides and Angels of Light’ by Melanie Beckler.  I took a chance on this book and didn’t get far with it.  Tried to keep an open mind but couldn’t help but doubt the author’s credibility.   I am currently reading, ‘A Thousand Shall Fall:  The True Story of a Canadian Bomber Pilot in World War 2’.  I’ve enjoyed all these latest reads and am especially enjoying the Canadian bomber pilot’s story.  Not hard to tell I have a fascination with those daring young men in their flying machines eh.

Been waffling back and forth for awhile whether to take the Jeep with us out East .  Later this morning  after talking it over again we reached a decision and both agreed to go it solo.  No Jeep.  We will be in a different travel mode from our usual longer southwest trips of past years.  We’ll not be camped out anywhere for weeks at a time and without endless desert Jeep roads to explore we’re going to do things a little differently on this trip.

LEAVES ON OUR BASSWOOD TREE ARE BEGINNING TO SHOW THEIR AGE

Jim over at Explore Vistas had this question……Have you ever featured the Falls Reserve Conservation Area on the blog, Al? That looks like a pretty place to take photos that is close by you………. My answer to that question is yes I have and below is a link to last Autumn’s walk.  All three times I’ve been there were in the Fall.  Waaaaaay to many humanoids for me to go there in the summer though so I wait until the Park closes for the season.  Falls Reserve 1.

It was around suppertime when we heard the rumblings of a heavy machine coming.  It was Park co-owner Ken clanking to stop with his large bulldozer in front of the half double wide house in front of our place.  He told Kelly he plans to begin moving the two house sections Wednesday.  He has to first pull one house section around the corner then push it down to the end of the street.  The second half has to be moved down the street as well.  Once both halves are in place a big crane will come in from Wingham Ontario and sling each half up overtop the tall Pine trees and gently lower them onto a cement foundation.  I’m hoping I’ll be home in time to tomorrow to get some photos of all that.  My good Buddy Jim and I are meeting for coffee at 10:30 tomorrow morning.

With only my baggy shorts on tonight working on my post I suddenly realized I was beginning to feel really cold.  With today again being stupidly hot Kelly had cranked up the A/C and in combination with my fan blowing on me I seemed to be getting colder by the minute.  Would you believe I had to get up, walk over to the patio door and slip outside on the porch to get warm.  Good thing Mother Nature’s furnace was still running full tilt or I might have had to put on my long Johns, mitts and hat.  Oh what a life it is I lead…………………

DIDN’T LIKE THE ORIGINAL COLORS IN THIS PHOTO SO MY PICASA PHOTO EDITING PROGRAM LET ME INVERT THEM

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Farmer John lived on a quiet rural highway. But, as time went by, the traffic slowly built up at an alarming rate. The traffic was so heavy and so fast that his chickens were being run over at a rate of three to six a day.  So one day Farmer John called the sheriff's office and said, "You've got to do something about all of these people driving so fast and killing all of my chickens." "What do you want me to do?" asked the sheriff. "I don't care, just do something about those crazy drivers!" So the next day he had the county workers go out and erected a sign that said: SLOW: SCHOOL CROSSING  Three days later Farmer John called the sheriff and said, "You've got to do something about these drivers. The 'school crossing' sign seems to make them go even faster."  So, again, the sheriff sends out the county workers and they put up a new sign:SLOW: CHILDREN AT PLAY  That really sped them up So Farmer John called and called and called every day for three weeks. Finally, he asked the sheriff, "Your signs are doing no good. Can I put up my own sign?" The sheriff told him,"Sure thing, put up your own sign." He was going to let the Farmer John do just about anything in order to get him to stop calling everyday to complain.  The sheriff got no more calls from Farmer John. Three weeks later, curiosity got the best of the sheriff and he decided to give Farmer John a call.  "How's the problem with those drivers.  Did you put up your sign?"  "Oh, I sure did. And not one chicken has been killed since then. I've got to go. I'm very busy."  He hung up the phone. The sheriff was really curious now and he thought to himself, "I'd better go out there and take a look at that sign, it might be something that WE could use to slow down drivers.  "So the sheriff drove out to Farmer John's house, and his jaw dropped the moment he saw the sign.  It was spray-painted on a sheet of wood and said, ATTENTION:  NUDIST COLONY AHEAD GO SLOW AND WATCH OUT FOR THE CHICKS!!

  1. I know a book you would like. It's -News of the World- by Paulette Jiles. Set in Texas after the Civil War had ended, it's about an older man who travels town-to-town, reading the news to gathering of folks. He is given the responsibility of taking a young girl, former Indian captive, back to her aunt and uncle's home.

  2. Bummer on the exhaust manifold. I drove mine hard on a big hill and when it cooled, it did the same thing. Mine was worse as it broke the head, so I needed a head replaced and went with stainless headers as Ford 460 engines have a history of right head manifold cracks. Chevy 454 engines do the same on the left head. You would think the engine designers would have solved that problem on newer engines. Hope all goes well at the shop.
