A SHORT POST TONIGHT

It was a long night with many trips to the washroom.  Luckily the shaking never came back.  My morning was pretty much wiped out as I spent most of it sleeping.  I could see it was a beautiful day outside but I didn't have the energy to get out and be a part of it.  Hopefully by Sunday all this will have passed and Pheebs and I will once again be out and about in the morning sunshine walking along another quiet forest path in search of a few photos.  Thanks for your concern folks………..

  2. Those bugs get the best of us occasionally. If you can sleep that's great!

  7. Hi - I read your blog daily and love it, even when there's just photos! I'm finally posting because no one has mentioned another possible reason for you getting "the shakes." It seems likely to me -- based on experience and knowledge -- that your illness was/is caused by a virus. Since heat can help kill a virus, people tend to get a rapid spike on body temperature when first attacked by a viral infection. In some people, this results in the body shaking, trying to cool itself off...which then results in the feeling of being extremely hot...and the cycle repeats itself until the fever is "broken" and returns closer to the normal range. Happens to my husband all the time, rarely with me. Actually, even though you feel cold when shaking, the worst thing you can do is cover yourself to retain the heat which your body is trying to get rid of (counter-intuitive, I know). Next time you get the shakes when ill, take your temp and see if it's elevated. Of course, it could be the reverse: your temp was sub-normal and you were trying to warm yourself up. Sorry - the way our wonderfully designed human bodies work can always be strange. Hope by now you're feeling better. Lynn in Kingston NY
