CHALLENGING REALITIES

DSC_6082

Armed with an A&W breakfast coupon Pheebs and I changed things up a bit this morning and slid into Goderich's east end heading for some bacon and eggs.  Had to pick up a prescription at Walmart anyway and the two places were close to each other.  Skies were overcast and we made it there and back home again between rain showers.  Not my idea of a nice Saturday morning but at least it wasn't cold.

For obvious reasons I haven't been able to enthusiastically get my RV traveling head fastened securely on this Fall so haven't really done much in seriously packing, getting things ready, or planning any routes or destinations.   If by chance we are green lighted to go and decide to do so I do have a feeling this could be our last RV winter season.  Truly hate to say that but it's just another one of those realities that will have to be faced when the time comes.  Nothing lasts forever and the travails of this damn aging thing has a subtle way of making it so.  Nothing to do with being pessimistic and everything to do with simply and honestly facing yet another challenging reality of life……..realistically.

WITH ONLY A FEW PICS IN THE CAMERA I SPOTTED THIS FIELD OF COWS ON THE WAY HOME……WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, THINK COWS:))

AND THERE’S EVEN A LITTLE DOGGY FACE IN THIS PHOTO

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Facebook for Seniors...
For those of my generation who simply do not, and cannot, comprehend why Facebook exists:
I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.  Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell passersby what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I'm doing now, what I will be doing later and with whom, and where I'm going next. and ask them to follow me along and watch me be important.
Then I give them pictures of my family, my dog, and of me gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering the lawn, standing in front of landmarks, washing the car, driving around town, eating lunch, getting a haircut, and doing what anybody and everybody does every day.  I also listen to their conversations, give them the "thumbs up" and tell them I like them and will be friends with them. It all works just like Facebook.. only I do it face to face not on a little glass screen.  I already have four people following me - two police officers, a private investigator and a psychiatrist.

---------------------------------------------

I rear-ended a car a few days ago.  The driver got out of the other car, and he was a Dwarf.  He looked up at me and said "I am NOT happy!"
So I said, "well, which one are you then?"

  1. We know how much you like the South and feel your pain. It was not difficult to give up the driving and hassle. My health was the deal breaker. Now, Jim will say "Let's go on a trip to the Coast." "Let's plan a trip South." We just do traveling differently. You are closer to Florida and Aunt Jean would probably like a visit. I hope Kelly is doing well.

  2. It's a tough business trying to "grow old gracefully"! Certainly underlies why we're moving even though we love our country home.

  3. The only constant in this world is change!! We (I) have battled health issues in the past two years. I am very thankful that all scans and test are clean and clear!! Hang in there...it's not over till the fat lady sings and she just might not be singing just yet!!
Praying Kelly is doing well and her report will be a good one!!

  4. Your love of the southwest may only be outdone by your love of changing things up - you'll find your new mojo. In the meantime you may still have another season in the desert sun. And cows are always a good idea :-)))

  5. Prayers are with you and Kelly and that the reports will be good. We had to hang up the RV keys due to my husband's health issues. Though we could no long traveling like we were used to, we still had out wonderful memories of 88,000 miles plus of RVing. Memories are with you forever. Take care. P.S. Loved the cow photos tonight.

  6. Enjoyed the train track photo. That ship sure has a smoking genset running, perhaps overloaded or dirty injectors. Kinda doubt they care. Cows sure are peaceful to look at. Hope Kelly's news is good when it comes. Waiting to hear sure can cause worry.

  7. Again good luck and hoping for good news. We all know some day this travelling will have to stop and are so blessed to have so many years in the south west. Hopefully still a few more for you guys.

  9. Hoping the best for you and Kelly. The jigger picture reminded me of a day walking along the tracks to King Lear Sr public school, when the jigger came by and gave me a ride to the back of the school where I just had to hope the fence into the school yard. Thanks for the memory.

  10. Al, don't get caught up with "all or nothing thinking." Try to think of alternative ways and places to visit. Maybe shorter trips that are closer to home. Even if you might not be able to take a lengthy trip to the southwest, where can you go now, or in the near future?

  11. Don't give up on the travel yet..We had a rough patch this past couple years and missed our Winter trip last year..This year has been a challenge, but we are still planning a Texas trip...Maybe only 3 months instead of 4..and this might be our last..not sure. Luckily, we are still "fixable"..Growing old isn't for sissies..Praying you kids are able to travel yet again. I hate waiting for Dr.s to call..however I think if it was something really bad, they would have called you immediately!..

  12. Hoping you get the green light to travel. This will be our first winter at home in ten years, health issues. Maybe some winter photography will be in our future!

  13. Hubby and I both retired last year and honestly, we only took a trip to Arizona which nearly did me in! We are finding that the longer trips just are too hard on me. I drive because he gets dizzy. Oh, joy! We bought a hybrid Nissan Rogue and a tent that attaches to it, so maybe we can get to our local mountains or Joshua Tree. That's about as far as I want to drive, but I sure am missing the fall colors in the eastern Sierra Nevada this year!
