BIG WIND GUSTS, SPLATTERS OF RAIN, MOODY SKIES, AND A FEW MARVELOUS SUN SPLASHES ALONG THE WAY

BAYFIELD HARBOR

Had fully expected a rain soaked morning so imagine my surprise at seeing a few trickles of sunshine filtering down through our tall pine trees.  Rain had already begun early Monday evening so I had reserved myself to a boring inside gray rainy day in the house.

DSC_6563Pheebs and I weren’t long in piling ourselves into the Jeep and heading out to see if we could find a few photos.  Breezed into Bayfield, slipped down around the harbor, picked up a coffee and muffin at the Charles Street Market Cafe' and quickly headed ourselves out into the sometimes sun dappled countryside southeast of Bayfield.

A NICE MORNING TO GET A PLOW INTO THE GROUND

Again it wasn’t a long Jeep ride we took but ambling along slow we put in about an hour before clouds thickened up and our passing sun splashes were over.  Temps weren’t too bad in the lower 50’s but gusting winds drove the chill factor down somewhere in the low 40’s.  Our leg stretch stops were made in the lee of bush lines along the road where the wind couldn’t get us and before we made it home we had the windshield wipers going.

IT WAS EVEN TOO WINDY FOR THE WIND TURBINES AND THEIR MIGHTY BLADES REMAINED MOTIONLESS

We were home again by 10:30 whereupon I tidied up a few hasty yard clean-up projects between wind gusts and rain drops.  Kelly had headed off to Goderich on a few errands.  Hand bombed our heavy utility trailer into the carport where it will remain for the winter.  Didn’t do much for the rest of the day except to watch a few more great programs in HD on the BBC Earth and Smithsonian channels.

Winds increased during the afternoon and there were power outages in our area.  Amazingly enough we didn’t lose our power here at the Park.  A few years ago it seemed if someone sneezed too loud it could plunge our whole little Park community into total darkness.  Maybe that problem has finally been fixed.  Our power lines here at the Park run underground.

IT WAS AT THIS POINT WE DECIDED TO CALL IT A DAY AND HEAD FOR HOME

GROANER’S CORNER:((   One night, a man on his way home happened upon a drunk, down on his hands and knees searching for something under a street light. The man asked the drunk what he was looking for so diligently and the drunk said he had tripped and his Rolex wrist watch had broken loose from his wrist. The man, being a kindhearted soul, got down on his hands and knees and began assisting the drunk looking for his watch. After about ten minutes without any success, the man asked the drunk exactly where he tripped. "About a half a block up the street," the drunk said. "Why, pray tell," the man asked the drunk, "are you looking for your watch here if you lost it a half a block up the street?" The drunk replied, "The light is a lot better here."

Son: Well you did say it was my lunch money!

Teacher: Did your parents help you with these homework problems?
Pupil: No I got them all wrong by myself!

  3. It was a nicer day yesterday than I expected too. And I was surprised to find a few boats still in the water in Meaford harbour. Today looks a little cooler.

  4. The lighting was perfect, everything looks magical. Hard to remember that's a lake and not a sea with those pounding waves and big ships. What a job to pull out and put back all those docks every year! Love the sliver of road peeking through the subtle Fall colors.
