MET US A COUPLE OF FINE FELLOW RV BLOGGERS THIS MORNING

DSC_2011

ALL NATURE PHOTOS IN TONIGHT’S POST WERE TAKEN IN THE HULLETT MARSH THIS MORNING

Pheebs and I were out and about first thing again to take advantage of the early morning's cool air.  In fact it was so nice I was wishing I had taken a jacket.  With a stiff breeze off the lake and cooler temperatures I thought for sure the mosquitos would be grounded.  They weren't and they shortened a walk Pheebs and I were on in the Hullett Marsh.  Miserable damn things.  Did manage to take myself a few photos though before having to retreat to the Jeep.

Long time readers will well remember fellow RV Bloggers and friends of ours Laurie and Odel from years ago and their travels in Scoopy their Motorhome.  No it wasn't Laurie and Odel we met again today but it was the folks who bought Scoopy when Laurie and Odel decided to come in off the road and settle down way over there in that California place somewhere.  Diamond Springs methinks.  You can see Laurie, Odel and Scoopy here at this link when Laurie posted about selling Scoopy……Semi-True Tales Of Our Life On The Road

UP UP AND AWAY

We received an email a couple weeks ago from the people who were now traveling full time in Scoopy and they were in Michigan on their way to Niagara Falls and other destinations in New York State.  They expressed an interest in meeting us (especially Pheebs) and seeing Bayfield so we said sure come on over.  And that is how it came to be that we met Linda and Steven today from The Chouters & Scoopy.  They left Scoopy at the RV Park they were staying at and drove to Bayfield this morning in their white Chevy Sonic.

The streets of Bayfield were crowded with people late this morning but luckily Kelly had made reservations at a popular Bayfield eatery called The Black Dog and it was here at 11:30 that we met Linda and Steven on the outside patio for lunch.  It was breezy enough to blow napkins and menus off the tables but no matter because all four of us were hardy RV people used to desert winds blowing everything asunder half the time.  Liked these folks right off the bat.  Down to earth people like ourselves with lots of common interests to talk about.  Steven is an accomplished and exceptionally fine professional photographer who has had his work picked up and sold by Ikea.  You really must see what this fellow does and see how using a 'pin hole' camera adds so much to his photography.  A very multi-talented fellow indeed who first came to America's shores as a member of a traveling Irish rock band years ago.  Photography By Steven Dempsey.  You can read about Steven ‘HERE’.

Despite the occasional windy interruption we had ourselves a great lunch with Linda and Steven graciously picking up the tab.  A big thank you guys.  Coconut cream pie in a jar turned out to be a great dessert.  Visiting Bayfield would not be complete without wandering in and out of the shops on main street so that is exactly what we did.  Linda and Kelly of course browsed far more shops than Steven and I did but it did give Steven and I chance to hold down a bench for a bit outside one of the shops and talk a little photography.  Would you believe I totally forgot to ask him what kind of camera gear he uses.

THOSE TWO GALS ARE JUST A STEPPIN IT OUT

DSC00068Wrapping up our walk along both sides of Bayfield's main street we headed off in both cars with Linda and Steven following us.  A swing around Pioneer Park then down to the harbor before heading off to our place here at the 5 Seasons.  They weren't going to be going all the way back to Michigan without first meeting the Pheebs.  Had us a walk around through our gardens and with the day edging on it was soon time to say goodbye.  Linda and Steven are like us and love the great American Southwest so our chances of meeting them again are pretty likely.  Borrego Springs California is one of their favorite places too.  Thanks for dropping around guys and see you next time somewhere in the desert:))  You can follow Linda and Stevens blog on our sidebar.  Just look for The Chouters & Scoopy

Thanks to Janet in our new Shout Box for tipping me off on what had happened to our blog’s width dimension.  A few readers had commented the blog was hard to read and off center.  We immediately thought it had something to do with the Shout Box Kelly had newly installed Friday morning.  Janet’s mention of the header picture being off center set off a light bulb in my head.  I had just changed the header photo a couple days ago and failed to put in the correct width number for it so it was too big to fit the format which threw the blog’s alignment out of order.  Readers to the rescue again:))

DSC_2039GROANER'S CORNER:((     A woman on the phone to her friend; I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor’s permission to join a fitness club and start exercising…. I decided to take and aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.

Now here’s a good piece of advice::

In promulgating your esoteric cogitations or articulating your superficial sentimentalities, and amicable philosophical or psychological observations, beware of platitudinous ponderosity. Let your conversational communications possess a compacted conciseness, a clarified comprehensibility, a coalescent cogency, and a concatenated consistency. Eschew obfuscation and all conglomeration of flatulent garrulity, jejune babblement, and asinine affectations. Let your extemporaneous descantings and unpremeditated expatiations have intelligibility and voracious vivacity without rodomontade or thrasonical bombast. Sedulously avoid all polysyllabic profundity, pompous prolificacy, and vain vapid verbosity.

In short: “Be brief and don't use big words.”

  2. The focus on that first shot of the bee is incredible! Your new camera setup is obviously working well! Glad you met the Chouters. I enjoyed their great trip to Alaska last year.

  3. Love the bees and butterflies. But really love that Linda and Steve got over to see you guys! They are a couple of our most favorite folks. In fact I was introduced to their blog here on yours. You wrote about a new blog by a couple who bought Scoopy after traveling in their pop up trailer - Alfred Hitchpop - and I knew I needed to read them :-)))) Looks like you had a great time!!

  4. Thanks so much for such a great day and the mention in your post. Now, about my camera gear... I use a Fujifilm X-T1 camera with various lenses. I'm finding as I progress in this photographic journey that I need less and less equipment to produce my images. A good lens and a good camera is all I need and I'm pretty happy with this combo. It was really nice to get to know you Al, I think we are kindred spirits :)

  8. We are so glad you were able to meet Linda and Steven, Al and Kelly. We were fortunate to be able to meet them in Kentucky through Jodee and Bill, and we also spent time with them in Florida! They are so much fun to be with!
