THANK HEAVENS WE ARE ABLE TO CATCH A FEW HOURS OF REFRESHINGLY COOL AIR IN THE MORNINGS

THE UNMOVING EYE OF A PARTIALLY HIDDEN FROG WAS HEAVILY UPON ME AS I SLOWLY EASED CLOSER TO THE EDGE OF OUR FAVORITE POND
Another hot and humid day but thankfully Pheebs and I were able to enjoy much cooler air for a few hours earlier in the morning.  Kelly said it was really hot in Goderich.   With a light jacket on and the Jeeps windows down I was good for about an hour before the humidity built up and it was off with the jacket.  I just can’t seem to get enough of these beautiful mornings I am able to experience almost every day now.  The smell of new mown hay, horses and cattle lazing in fields and lush green panoramic scenery all round in the crisp clean air are just a few of the many things I look forward to each day.  Our travels took us around some familiar back country roads for a couple hours again before the heat built up and it was time to head for home.

Hung myself on the end of my weed whacker for about 20 minutes and that was it for staying outside.  I’m already looking forward to summer’s hot and sticky weather being over.  Yea September:))

YES WE DO LOVE OUR SEEMINGLY ENDLESS MAZE OF COUNTRY ROADS IN SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO

Pheebs and I have our favorite spots (above) where we stop along the way from time to time either for a leg stretch or a walk.  Pheebs always gets in and out of the Jeep via the rear passenger side door and that’s where I keep her water and water dish.  Still had a coffee in my hand when it was time to go so set my coffee down in the back and poured out some water for Pheebs.  A minute later we were on our way again along the bumpy lane you see in the photo above.  Lumbered up a small grade making a jostling left turn onto the highway and accelerated quickly up to highway speed.  Reached for my coffee and of course………..it wasn’t there.  Awwww Nuts!!  It had been over half full too.  Easing over onto the shoulder of the road I knew my coffee for sure would have dumped over in the back and probably all over my jacket too.  Turning in my seat to see the mess I……What!!!!  The coffee cup was still upright.  How could that be.  Couldn’t believe it.  I should have drove to the nearest convenience store right away and bought a lottery ticket with that piece of luck going for me.  Below is the picture I took after getting stopped and sure enough there sat my McDonald’s coffee cup still in an upright position.  Strange happenings and rare pieces of luck never cease to amaze me.
DSC_0012Planted some Lupines, Cosmos, and Feathered Grass this afternoon so we’re still busy puttering ourselves around in the flowerbeds.  Last week I planted a Hibiscus, a Dahlia,  some Japanese Oriental grass, a Cala Lily, an Asiatic Lily, a purple Clematis and another Dipladenia.  Tomorrow I will try to remember to take some photos of these newly planted plants.

EVEN MANAGED A FISH PHOTO AT OUR FAVORITE POND THIS MORNING
We are still trying to find a suitable ‘Shout Box’ to replace the old one which has ridden off into the sunset.  You may have noticed we have been trying different ones but so far they have all been problematic in one way or another.  We’ll keep trying.

And Hey here’s some big news for the people of Bayfield and surrounding area.  For all intents and purposes a Tim Hortons Coffee Shop is coming to Bayfield and will be located in the towns south end on the west side of highway 21 between Bayfield’s Foodland Supermarket and the car wash.  There is some growing opposition of course but there’s not much anyone can do to stop a Hortons franchise.  The deal was probably inked a year ago.  The coffee shop will seat 20 and of course have a Drive-Thru well stocked with carrot muffins.  But wait, there’s more!!  Along with that new Tim Horton Coffee Shop comes an Esso self serve gas bar and convenience store.  If anyone in the area has seen the new Horton/Esso Gas Convenient store at the south end of Blyth Ontario at the corner of highway 4 and Blyth Road that is what it will basically look like I’m guessing.  Looking forward to my first Bayfield Timmies:))

HERE’S ONE FOR YOU TO FIGURE OUT WITH THE CLUE BEING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PHOTO…………….THAT IS THE JEEPS REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE AND RIM WITH THE SUN SHINING ON IT THROUGH OUR CARPORT’S LATTICE WORK.  THE LATTICE CAUSES THOSE SQUARES AND THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTING OFF THE JEEPS CHROME RIM CASTS THOSE BRIGHT SUNLIT PATTERN ON THE CEMENT FLOOR.  KINDA NEAT :))
GROANER’S CORNER:((  When the gambler wakes up from dreaming about a huge glowing number 5 made of gold and diamonds, he knows it's an omen. So he grabs a racing form and looks up that day's fifth race. Sure enough, the number 5 horse in the fifth race is Fifth Element. So for the rest of the day he does everything in fives: He eats five bowls of cereal for breakfast, goes for a five-mile run, takes a five minute shower, and wears the fifth jacket he finds in his closet.  At the racetrack, he buys five programs, bets $555 on the fifth horse in the fifth race, and sits in the fifth seat of the fifth row of the bleachers in section five.  And when the gun goes off, he settles in and watches his horse come in fifth.

A few years ago an old man was relaxing at his hundredth birthday party when a reporter went up to him. "Sir, what is the secret of your long life?"
The man considered this for a moment, then replied, "Every evening at 9 p.m. I have a glass of port. Good for the heart I've heard." The reporter then asked, "That's ALL?"  The man smiled, "Well, canceling my voyage on the Titanic sure didn't hurt."
