MORNING RAINS GROUNDED PHEEBE AND I AND OUR NEW TELEVISION ARRIVED TODAY:))

I’M GUESSING THIS FELLOW AT A ‘NORTHERN FLICKER’ OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW MONDAY AFTERNOON

It was somewhere around 2 a.m. when thunder, lightning, and rain shook me out of a sound sleep.  Managed to get back to sleep just in time for it to wake me up all over again.  We sure have had a rainy season this year which has led to some very exceptionally beautiful daytime skies.  Overnight temps dropped into the high 50's as our weather remains on the cool side.  Good stuff:))

With bands of rain wandering through the neighborhood Pheebs and I were grounded so turned my morning efforts to cleaning up the area behind where our large 42 inch Samsung had been.  You know that area where all the electrical cords, speaker wires, and cables of all descriptions live.  That area where it looks like a gravel truck loaded with spaghetti backed in and dumped it’s load.  That area where there lies tangled about 46 miles of jumbled wires.  Figured I’d take the time to organize and bundle up all the cables into some sort of sensible civility before our new television arrived.  So that’s how I occupied the rainy part of my morning.

IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING ALL THE WIRES CLEANED UP AND ORGANIZED BEFORE BRINGING HOME OUR NEW TV….THIS IS THE TEMPORARY TV FROM OUR CONGRESS ARIZONA HOUSE

It was around 11:30 when Kelly phoned The Brick Store to see if their truck delivery this morning had dropped off a big TV for us.  It had so we piled into the Jeep right quick and headed for Goderich.  Kelly had something to drop off at the consignment store so we did that first then picked us up a couple coffees and took ourselves for a drive down around the harbor.  Been a few years since Kelly had been down there.  Pheebs and I usually end up in the harbor and beach area about 4 times a week.  It was shortly after noon when we arrived at the The Brick.  A store employee helped load the big Mossmagator television into the Jeep and it was off for home we paddled quick as we could.

LUCKILY THE TV FIT INTO OUR JEEP LIBERTY JUST FINE

Well I can tell you right off the bat we never would have got this TV all set up and running had it not been for Kelly.  Gone are the days when you just plugged it into the wall and adjusted the rabbit ears.  Coaxial cables, DVD plugs, VCR wires, cable TV lines some Atomic dust, and a pair of nuclear plyers all came into play.  I sat in my recliner gripping the arms as Kelly patiently went through about 328 steps to set up the smart remote that came with the LG 55” Super UHD Smart TV.  That TV had more questions on the screen for Kelly to answer than Carter had liver pills years ago but she painstakingly persevered and figured it all out like she usually does.  She even reprogramed our stereo receiver to accept digital and soon had our stereo speakers and 10” Subwoofer shaking the windows.  I like when that happens.  But here’s the best part……..Oh my a 55 inch wide TV with a crystal clear picture from corner to corner.  ‘Wowsers’   But to be fair……we did have to tweak the TV’s settings to optimize the picture to a degree we both liked.  With my photography hobby I’m a bit of a stickler for color, density, and contrast in images and the TV straight out of the box just didn’t quite cut it.  However we weren’t long in finding out how to tweak the settings and find the colors, contrast, and density I was looking for.  And here’s another best part……..we figure the future sale of the motorcycle will way more than cover the cost of our new TV.  Double ‘Wowsers’:)))))))

Most of today’s photos are from the past few days.  I sometimes take too many pics each day to fit them all in one post so with todays photos I will have myself all caught up again meaning Pheebs and I will be out in the morning on the hunt for more.  What a nice relaxing hobby photography is:))

Because of our early mornings crappy weather I decided not to go to Henry's Camera Store in London putting that off until one day early next week.  Rain stopped and clouds began clearing up late morning and by afternoon we were under big blue skies and lots of sunshine until 7:30 in the evening when it rained on us again.  By 8 o’clock we were back to sunshine.  And it’s still remaining cool.  Bonus:))

A DAY IN THE COUNTRY LIFE OF A BUNCH OF LOCAL BUZZARDS

Thanks to readers for identifying the bird in my Monday post as a Great Crested Flycatcher.  Much appreciated folks.  I’m still at the stage where I can hardly tell the difference between a Hummingbird and an Owl.

‘WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE CRAZY BUNCH OF BUZZARDS DOING OVER THERE ON THE BARN ROOF’

GROANER’S CORNER:((   Two roaches were munching on garbage in an alley when one engages a discussion about a new restaurant. "I was in that new restaurant across the street," said one. "It's so clean! The kitchen is spotless, and the floors are gleaming white. There is no dirt anywhere--it's so sanitary that the whole place shines."  "Please," said the other roach frowning. "Not while I'm eating!"

  4. Wowzer! Nice TV! That just might keep you guys in Bayfield this winter.....Naw....the southwest will beckon your return, and maybe to the old ranch that you "ranch-sat" a few years back...those were fun times no doubt....

  6. The great part about having a photography hobby these days is digital images are free, except for the cost of the equipment. We ould all go broke if we had to pay for film and developing. Or tae fewer pictures.

  8. Bill is our tech and I'm so glad I no longer have to deal with all that stuff! You're going to love that big screen :-) Great cluster of cows.

  9. What fun! I have that very same TV, and yes, the smart thing and the Ultra HD thing, and the ability to tweak the settings are all pretty amazing. I still don't use all the smart stuff as much as I could, but Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix are all accessible, as is YouTube. I even listened and watched a full concert of Mumford and Sons from Brazil on YouTube on that huge screen with great sound just yesterday. Technology can be amazing. As is Kelly.
