CLOSE ENOUGH TO GOOD ENOUGH IS GENERALLY ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

DSC_0364

In the space of about 3 hours this morning I went from being too hot to too cold to too hot again.  Humidity was still heavy in the air when I woke up so had the fans running.  A couple hours after that heading for Goderich I had to put a touch of heat on in the Jeep and near the lake had to stop and put a jacket on.  Less than an hour after that heading home with humidity levels again on the rise Pheebs and I had all the windows down.  Both Toronto and Windsor Ontario broke heat records Monday.  Today was cloudy until mid afternoon and that helped keep the sticky heat down.  Didn’t have to turn our A/C on today but I did stick pretty close to my cooling fans.  Crazy weather.

‘OH WHY OH WHY OH WHY DID I SIGN UP FOR THIS KIND OF LIFE’ !!

Much of my afternoon was spent on the internet looking up Nikon and Sony camera information.  I am still trying to decide on buying that 18-300mm Nikon lens I’m interested in.  Being in a position now to trade in some Nikon and Sony camera gear it makes that Nikon lens deal very doable for me.  Decisions, decisions.  One quality camera with one quality lens would sure be a lot more convenient for me in more ways than one.

BIRD ON A ROPE

Not being a professional photographer and thankfully not being a perfectionist I do not need the best of the best when it comes to most things including camera gear.  Close enough to good enough is generally always good enough for me   as long as I can get my photos looking as best I can with what I have for my blog each day that’s good enough for me and I am a happy camper.

GROANER’S  CORNER:((  The Perks of Retirement::

You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body.

I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.

I decided to stop calling the bathroom the “John” and renamed it the “Jim”. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Old age is coming at a really bad time.    When I was a child I thought “Nap Time” was a punishment. Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation.

The biggest lie I tell myself is..."I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it."

I don't have gray hair; I have "wisdom highlights." I'm just very wise.

Teach your daughter how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper.

If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would've put them on my knees.

Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet.

Why do I have to press one for English when you're just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?

Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice.

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later.
I don’t have to go to school or work.
I get an allowance every month.
         I have my own pad.
         I don’t have a curfew.
I have a driver’s license and my own car.
I have ID that gets me into bars and the whisky store.
        I don’t have acne.

Life is great. I have more friends I should get around to see, but right now I can't remember who they are.

  1. Would it be worth it to rent the lens for a week before you buy one?

  2. The weather was strange today , but really but still pretty decent here. You always take great pictures and I am sure that new lease will do the trick for you.

  3. Your photos prove yet again the "art" is in the eye of the photographer, and not so much in the quality of the gear. Question I struggle with, can I up my game just a little with better gear? And, still be able to carry it without a sherpa? And, and... I easily take as many photos with my pocket AW100 as I do with my D7K, and I regret that I don't have better "data" to work with when I sit down at the computer. Sure wish Nikon would offer Raw data storage on their outdoor cameras.

  4. From all I have read and heard from better photographers, a good quality lens makes a big difference in picture quality and sharpness. Can't wait to see some of your pics from your new lens.

  7. I suspect you will be mighty happy with that 18-300 lens. I love being able to shoot a face across the table from me and then zoom in on a young waitress across the room. The VR keeps the picture stable, even if I'm not.
Enjoyed the ship and farm pics tonight, great post.

  10. Seems like the weather has really been up and down everywhere this spring. Harbor work is so foreign to me and I love seeing the different vessels and gear and uniforms and goings on that you share - such an interesting life.

  12. Here's my simple I don't know question
If geese are in Canada, you Canadians call them Canadian geese
This is where I gets confusing
if The geese are born in America they should be called an American goose
But Americans call them Canadian geese
    This Leeds to some confusion
So if the Canadian goose is a Canadian bird or an American goose is an American bird
how do we know which bird is which bird to which bird group these bird geese fallen in
or do we devise a new name called ex-pat CAN-AM geese birds
Now we do know that if a Canadian goose is born in Canada and the Canadians stencil a Mapleleaf on his tail we know that's a real Canadian goose
Do you think that we should spray paint and American goose red white and blue so the Canadians know that it's an American goose bird

I know that our friend in the Canadian North I have been wondering about this for years ,,, here is your chance to answer the important question

  13. A Robin is a Robin wherever it may fly
A Blue Jay is a Blue Jay wherever in the sky
A Canada Goose is not a Moose but wherever it may be
    A Goose, a Moose, a Robin or a jay
Have simply all been named that way:)))))
