HIGH WINDS, BLOWING SAND AND A 45 MILE DRIVE TO WALMART…..FOR PEANUT BUTTER

DSC_0006

RATHER THAN TRYING TO DECIDE ON ONE MOST BEST SUNRISE PHOTO I HAVE DECIDED TO INCLUDE ALL OF THEM AGAIN

Winds picked up in the night rattling everything on the Motorhome’s exterior that was rattlible.  I have over the ear headphones for listening to music so I put those on to deaden the wind noises and finally fell asleep for awhile but with wind gusts still banging on our coach my day started at 4:15 a.m.

Winds continued all day with clouds scudding across mainly cloudy skies in the morning with flashes of temporary sunshine in the afternoon.  Not wanting to sit around in the Motorhome all day again we put on our thinking caps for things to do and came up with an old stand-by……Walmart.  I really needed to get me some decent peanut butter.  Shortly after 9 Arizona time with a strong northwest wind at our backs we headed off to Brawley California about 45 miles southeast of us.  I was happy to have somewhere to go:))

ROLLING OUT FOR BRAWLEY CALIFORNIA WAY OUT THERE ON YONDER HORIZON

Having been to Walmart in Brawley half a dozen times before over the years we knew right where to find it and by golly it was still there.  I’ve always liked the looks of this store with it’s southwest colors and architecture.  We were needing groceries so it was in the grocery area where we spent our time with Kelly slowly plodding along up and down the aisles with the cart and me flying all over the place grabbing things on my list to carry back and drop into the slow moving cart.  It’s the way we like to shop, Kelly taking her time to look things over carefully and me rushing around frantically looking for a jar of peanut butter as if the world was about to end in 5 minutes.

IT WAS MY IDEA TO GO HERE TODAY:))

BUT NOT MY IDEA TO GO HERE TODAY:(( >>>>>>>

The Walmart has a Subway Sandwich shop in it and the special to the end of the month was any foot long Sub for $6.  While I headed out to the Jeep with groceries Kelly ordered up a big Sub which we ate in the car with Pheebs helping us along.  A quick leg stretch and pit stop for Pheebs behind Walmart and we were on the road heading back to our rig.

WE ARE CAMPED SOMEWHERE THE OTHER SIDE OF BORREGO MOUNTAIN AHEAD

The gusting northwesterly winds that had pushed us all the way to Brawley now were trying to keep us from going anywhere but our little Jeep punched through the wind and blowing sand with no problem.  We were back to our site in an hour and that’s with a gas stop and border patrol check-point thrown in.

With winds continuing to buffet the coach we stayed inside for the rest of the day and that was about it for our Monday.  I think we are a little overdue for some desert Jeeping.  At the time of posting tonight all is finally quiet with our night air and we are hoping it stays that way!!

GROANER’S CORNER:(( Three sisters, ages 92, 94, and 96, live together. One night the 96-year-0ld draws a bath. She puts one foot in and pauses. "Was I getting in the tub or out?" she yells.  The 94-year-old hollers back, "I don't know, I'll come up to see." She starts up the stairs and stops. She shouts, "Was I going up or going down?"  The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea, listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful", and knocks on wood for good measure. Then she yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door."

---------------------

- First guy: "My wife's an angel!"
Second guy: "You're lucky, mine's still alive."

- Just think, if it weren't for marriage, men would go through life thinking they had no faults at all.

Deep within a forest a little turtle began to climb a tree. After hours of effort he reached the top, jumped into the air waving his front legs and crashed to the ground. After recovering, he slowly climbed the tree again, jumped, and fell to the ground.  The turtle tried again and again while a couple of birds sitting on a branch watched his sad efforts. Finally, the female bird turned to her mate.  “Dear,” she chirped, “I think it's time to tell him he's adopted.”

  8. I totally understand about the peanut butter. Wonder why AZ. doesn't paint the Walmart's like that.

  9. thank you for providing the sunset for me in many ways. Up here in the mountains above Banning, I don't get them. You had wind, we had rain and fog yesterday and looking like another similar day today. Bill can't be without his peanut butter either.

I sure need a Walmart trip myself. Stopped at the local market and it was a quick $10 for a gallon of milk and had to buy some Chips Ahoy cookies.
