MORNING AT OUR HOUSE
Dictionary defines the word ‘furious’ as ‘in an extremely angry manner’. And that perfectly describes the huge wind gusts that came like thieves in the night and stole our sleep. Our coach was not only shaking but shuddering in the wind blasts. And those winds continued through morning and as I write this tonight our rig is still rocking, swaying, and shuddering from whip lash wind gusts. We’ve had enough and we’re getting the heck out of here in the morning!!
BEING SO WINDY I ONLY TOOK A FEW PHOTOS WITH MY SMALL POINT AND SHOOT CANON TODAY
Kelly hadn’t seen the movie ‘La La Land’ so it was off to Yuma’s Harkins Movie Theater this morning for both of us. Sand blowing across the roads reminded me of drifting snow back home in Ontario. Great clouds of sandy dust could be seen for miles. The movie ‘Founder’ began today and that was the movie I decided to see. It’s the story of McDonald’s and how it all got started with 2 brothers then built into a franchise empire by a fella named Ray Kroc. Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc and does a fine job with the role. I don’t know how true to fact Hollywood kept the story but I found it an entertaining movie which held my interest all the way through.
WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE THEATER THERE WAS A LINE-UP GOING IN…….LOOKS LIKE SENIORS DAY TO ME
NOTICE HOW WARMLY EVERYONE IS DRESSED…..YES IT WAS SUNNY BUT THAT DRIVING WIND TOOK JUST ABOUT EVERY BIT OF WARMTH OUT OF THE AIR
Kelly’s movie was out half an hour before mine so she was waiting outside the theater. She really liked La La Land which I figured she would. After watching hamburgers being flipped in the ‘Founder’ movie I was naturally hungry so guess where we went?? If you guess McDonalds you would be…….wrong. We knew In-N-Out Burger built a way better burg for a way better price than McDonalds so that’s where we headed. So how did we like our In-N-Out burgers?? Don’t know……we didn’t stay long enough to eat anything. There was a line-up out the door and neither Kelly or I have any kind of patience for any kind of line-up. Still feeling hungry for a burg did we then head off to McDonalds?? Nope, we slipped across the road to 5 Guys and nabbed us a couple burgs along with a free bag of peanuts. Burgs were fine but I think I am now a newly converted In-N-Out Burger guy……………..
WE HUNKERED DOWN IN 5 GUYS FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES
Fought our way west along I-8 through heavy wind gusts finally arriving back at the rig shortly before two. Positioned the Jeep to give our satellite dish additional protection from the wind but winds seemed to be increasing so I finally took the satellite dish off the tripod just to be on the safe side and put it in the Jeep. And that basically was the end of our afternoon because to venture outside meant running the risk of being blown right off our feet all the way down into Mexico somewhere. And no way did either one of us want to end up standing in a long line-up of people who had also been blown across the border, all waiting to get back into the States as soon as the big winds stop someday!!
We checked out California’s weather in Borrego Springs and could see things were much calmer over that-a-way so in the morning we’ll be packing up and heading further west. We’ll be looking for another area other than our usual spot along Rock House Road at the Clark Dry Lake Bed this time too. We also noticed an area between Borrego Springs and San Diego we have never been to so in a few days we want to do a Jeep day trip over that way in hopes of maybe finding some new boon-docking areas for the rig later. We really do need to find us some new and interesting places……..

As any long term reader of my blog knows I do have my highs and I do have my lows and I have always blogged about both as well as all the shades of gray in between. I had been on a real nice high since we sold the house but knew I would stumble at some point. And stumble I did for a few days but with the advent of another move coming up I can feel my spirits lifting once again. It is just the way I am. I have my ups and I have my downs. And I write about them….
Some readers are going to wonder why we didn’t attend Bloggerfest this year. We actually made the decision to skip Bloggerfest a couple months ago when we thought we were going to be in the southeastern part of Arizona. We decided to stick with that decision even though we are back in the Bloggerfest neighborhood so to speak. We attended the first two Bloggerfests in 2015 and 2016 because I really wanted to be a part of supporting it and like others, helping to get it off the ground. By the sounds of it Bloggerfest is growing itself a good set of strong legs. Perhaps next year we will drop in again but this year we’re just going to keep on rolling and wish everyone attending Bloggerfest all the best. And don’t forget to take lots of pictures eh:))
WITH A GOOD IMAGINATION YOU MIGHT SEE A COUPLE OF CLOUD GEESE HERE
GROANER’S CORNER:(( The other day, Louise and I got into some petty argument. (I say it was petty. She would have said it was Armageddon.) As is our nature, neither of us would admit the possibility that we might be in error. To her credit, Louise finally said, 'Look. I'll tell you what. I'll admit I'm wrong if you admit I was right.'
'Fine.' I said. She took a deep breath, looked me in the eye and said, 'I'm wrong.' I grinned and replied, 'You're right.'
