MOTORHOME’S WINDSHIELD INSTALLED, COMPANY ARRIVED AND OUR FIRST NIGHT IN THE RIG IN 5 MONTHS

DSC_0007
We were all up at our usual time but out the door and on the road earlier than normal.  Myself in the Motorhome with Kelly & Pheebs following in the Pontiac Sunfire about 20 minutes behind.  Motorhome was due at SPEEDY GLASS by 7:45 so I wanted to be there by 7:30.  And I was.

ALMOST A TRAFFIC FREE DRIVE NORTH ON HIGHWAY 21 TO GODERICH THIS MORNING
Nice quiet early morning drive up highway 21 from Bayfield to Goderich and within 2 minutes of pulling in 37 year veteran Speedy Glass employee Murray opened a big Bay door and motioned me inside.  Not a lot of room on either side but amazingly enough I had remembered to put the Big EEE’s 2 slides in before leaving Bayfield so we fit through the bay door just fine:))  Chatted with Murray for a bit until Pheebs and Kelly arrived.

AND ‘THAR SHE BLOWS’….OUR NEW PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD

Speedy Glass is situated right beside McDonalds so not wanting to pass up breakfast with a cheaper Senior’s coffee Kelly parked the Sunfire and we walked across to McDonalds.  Think it was maybe the first time I had been in there since they renovated a couple years ago.  They have those self-ordering machines now but we avoided them and went straight to the counter.  Too much techno for me.

NOW HOW’S THAT FOR A BIG McDONALD’S BOARDING HOUSE REACH

THERE’S AN ANXIOUS LITTLE DOGGY SITTING IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT WAITING FOR HER SNACK
Less than an hour after we had left we were back home again.  With company coming Kelly busied herself with house and cooking stuff while I spent a few enjoyably cool morning hours on our front yard project.  Sooooooo much nicer without all that heat and humidity.  Energy to burn.  Well Okay, limited energy to burn.

WON’T BE LONG AND THIS FIELD OF BEANS WILL BE HARVESTED
Kelly’s son Ben and wife Bri along with their two boys Darion and Kai rolled in shortly after 2 and Kelly lit up like a Christmas tree.  Some toys for the boys to play with and a little property walk around before they headed for the Deer Park Lodge beach.

About 4 our phone rang and it was Speedy Glass calling to say the rig’s passenger side windshield was installed so Kelly, Pheebs and I hopped into the Jeep and headed for Goderich.  Kelly slipped inside to pay the $300 deductible while Pheebs and I piled into the Motorhome and headed for home.  Kelly rolled in about 5 minutes after Pheebs and I did and the beach gang 10 minutes after that. MY TRUSTY NAVIGATOR GUIDED US HOME
Soon as we had the rig in it’s spot and the slides out the Cambridge crew came aboard for a walk thru.  Bri’s parents had a trailer many Moons ago and Bri remembers traveling with her parents and sister from coast to coast in Canada.  Had to keep a close eye on the boys, one is 4 and the other is two and of course they were pretty inquisitive about everything.

Darion and Kai were pretty interested in my motorcycle after they found out it is for sale.  They both had a sit on it to see how she handled:))

YA NO PROBLEM I GOT IT
The Cambridge gang headed for supper at The Docks but both Kelly and I were too pooped to pop and opted to stay home.  Besides we had to move some of our stuff out to the rig as we will be sleeping in it for the next couple of night.  It’s been about 5 months since we’ve last slept in the rig so this is a bit of preliminary orientation for us in preparation for next months southern departure.

A campfire was suggested so I scrambled around getting some dry wood together.  When the gang got back from The Docks we fired up the campfire.  Kelly had whipped into town for a package of Smores so it wasn’t long and the boys were about as sticky as a bear on a honey pot.

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A plane hit a patch of severe turbulence and the passengers were holding on tight as it rocked and reeled through the night. A little old lady turned to a minister who was sitting behind her and said, "You're a man of God. Can't you do something about this?"
He replied, "Sorry, I can't. I'm in sales, not management."

Mary was discussing the various aspects and possible outcome of the insurance policy with the clerk at the Insurance Agency.
During the discussion, she asked. "Suppose I take the life insurance for my husband today for a million dollars, and tomorrow he dies? What will I get?" The clerk eyed her suspiciously and replied, "Probably a life sentence."

  1. You're having a great sociable time these days! But those campfires and marshmallows with the kids are fun! Same here the other night.

  2. Shucks. I was hoping you would try out the robot server at McDonald's and give us a full report, so we would know what to expect. Some day soon we will have to use it or go hungry.
