NOSE TO THE CLEANING GRINDSTONE FINISHES WINNIE’S CLEANING TODAY….SHE’S READY FOR THE RV MARKETPLACE

STARTING TO LOOK A LITTLE BIT LIKE SPRING AROUND HERE

Well, it's that time of year again. I'm usually Okay for the first couple weeks after arriving home about coming up with things to post about but it's not long before things begin to get a little routine, readers drop off, & I question myself about keeping the blog going for another summer. Happens to me every year at this time & probably happens to others as well. Blogging every other day, once a week, or maybe once every two or three weeks, just doesn't hold any interest for me. If I tried to do that I would lose momentum for sure & probably would just give it up altogether. No, for me it's daily or nothing. I did start this Blog unofficially in 06 & officially in 07 & have always tried to keep it headed in general RV travel oriented direction but as many Bloggers know it can be a real challenge coming up with anything interesting to write about especially when one isn't traveling. With 2,225 Blogger posts behind me I find each year becomes an ever bigger challenge trying to keep posts non repetitive, interesting, & fresh.  No I’m not planning on quitting yet, just expressing a few of my usual thoughts again at this ‘routine’ time of year…………...

TURKEY VULTURES ARE BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON
Because our predicted rains did not appear all day my pace was set & there was no let up until late afternoon. Don't know where my energy came from but right off I hauled out our power washer & got right after the Winnebago. Power washed the Jeep & Santa Fe while I was at it as well. With our way overloaded chlorine levels in our water anything washed is left with hard to remove white spots. That just makes for a whole lot of extra work but there is no way around it. Using 'The Solution' I had to of course again go over the whole coach. Bugs were especially bad on the front of the Ford so Pheebs & I took a break & headed up to Goderich for some 'Bug & Tar Remover', plus some 'Armor All’, & 'Black Streak Remover.' Grabbed a Tim Horton coffee, a Carrot Muffin, & headed right back home again. Spent the next 4 hours cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. It was so reminiscent of how I used to look after my vehicles many years ago. As most young fella's know, their vehicles are the biggest most important thing in their lives & I was no exception. Always cleaning, always shining, always polishing. I reminded myself of myself oh so many years ago. Remember those days Gary B:))

SAY, YA DON’T SUPPOSE THOSE JEANS ARE A WEE BIT TOO BAGGY ON ME DO YA

But alas, all this cleaning today was not for myself or the usual reasons one works hard at keeping their vehicle all spiffed up. Today's cleaning was necessary simply because we will be selling the RV & it is much easier to sell a good looking clean RV than one all dirtied up. Plus Winnie's new owner will start off on the right foot with a completely clean & fine looking Class C. And I feel good about that.

KELLY BEING WELL OVER A HUNDRED POUNDS LIGHTER THAN ME WAS ABLE TO GET UP ON THE HOOD TO CLEAN UNDER THAT OVERHANG
Couldn't help thinking today about one of the reasons I was looking forward to downsizing to a Class C from a Class A over a year ago. With our Class A Damon I pretty much had to get up on a ladder all the time to properly clean the windshield. How much easier I figured it would be to clean the front end of a much lower Class C. Despite having 2 previous Class C's years ago how soon I forgot just how actually hard it is to get the top of a Class C windshield clean. And then there's that big inaccessible front cap. Try to get up there & get the bugs of that eh. I'm sure fellow C owners know exactly what I mean. I was reminded of that all day today. I am soooooo looking forward to getting back up on my ladder to clean an ‘oh so easy’ Class A windshield again:))

NOW HOW’S THAT FOR A BIG BOARDING HOUSE BREAKFAST REACH
I may have mentioned this before but I am so relieved our Triple E has the bigger 22.5 inch tires on it. For the size of our 26' Winnie Wagon I was nervous about the smaller 16” tires on the Class C & after blowing a tire in northern New Mexico last October I was never comfortable with those smaller tires again. Maybe I had nothing to be nervous about but nervous I was & that's all that mattered.

ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME MISTER!!

I liked TIOGA GEORGE'S thoughts in his latest post. Short, simple, & sincere, as he momentarily reflects back on his marvellous RVing days, accepts the reality of where his life is now, & pensively thinks ahead to his future. Good stuff George….keep it up:))

RALPH, I CAN HEAR THOSE SEEDS TALKING TO ME I TELL YA
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Toward the end of our senior year in high school, we were required to take a CPR course. The classes used the well known mannequin victim, Resusci-Annie, to practice. Typical of most models, this Resusci-Annie was only a torso, to allow for storage in a carrying case. The class went off in groups to practice. As instructed, one of my classmates gently shook the doll and asked "Are you all right?" He then put his ear over the mannequin's mouth to listen for breathing.  Suddenly he turned to the instructor and exclaimed, "She said she can't feel her legs!"

A policeman arrives at the scene of an accident, in which a car smashed into a tree. The cop rushes over to the vehicle and asks the driver, "Are you seriously hurt?" "How do I know?" the driver responds. "I'm not a lawyer!"

  1. I'm sure with my blog I am driving some people nuts. I am CLOSE to traveling but haven't yet but routine??? My life is never routine, something is always happening even if it seems routine to me. I understand your thoughts, as you commented to me when I "reopened" my blog a few weeks ago.

At times it's hard to come up with something to write about everyday. Recently I've been every couple of days. Even though you and Kelly are in the summer home mode, I still enjoy reading how life is in rural Ontario.

You are right about cleaning a Class C windshield and the overhead compartment's exterior. The short time I owned my Class C, I found out just how a PIA that was.

  2. Yep, I was cleaning up the Hiker today, but on the inside...and Dennis had the bedroom all torn apart adjusting our slide...I finally got it nice and clean...But now she is all cleaned up on the inside..and no place to go!!

  3. Baggy pants give you the room necessary for maneuvers like hanging ten on the front of Winnie! ;)

  4. With you having a home at both ends of the trip it might be worth your while to invest in scaffolding. That way you set one up on each side of the rig and adjust the boards to the height you need. That will will do for the "C" class and when you get the "A" class you will have no problems doing the windshield. the scaffolding will also take little room to store.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  5. I wonder how many new readers go back and read blogs that are many years old? I've been reading blogs... yours as well as some others... since Jan, 2012... so when you write about being repetitive.... ain't necessarily so.... some us have never read them before... and some of us have the CRS disease that we don't remember reading them anyway ;-)

  6. The rig has that new look now. I hope you get what you need for it.

Great caption on the Jays with the seeds.

  7. I've been a long time reader of your blog and appreciate all the work you put into it. Although not everyday can be an exciting RV day, your words and pictures are worth their weight in gold.

You've opened many pathways for a lot of folks into RV travel, the great Southwest, photography and life in general (not forgetting the great Groaners, for an everyday laugh!).

Many of us owe you our thanks for the insights you've shared with us. Plus we've all fallen in love with Pheebie! :c)

  8. I'm too lazy to clean it on the outside and barely the inside.

BTW, the Congress desert is all abloom.

  9. I was putting The Solution in Therapy today and I know exactly what you mean!! If we decide to do any more traveling, we might follow your lead! As always Al, we love your blog and don't care what you write about - it's always welcome reading. And I would hate to miss a photo of the Pheebs!

  10. ooops - that's *ON* Therapy not in her haha!!

  11. I use Feedy to read blogs. The bad part of that is that some blogs (yours is one), I can go directly to your site via Feed but I can't post a comment. I have to go to my bookmarks so I get lazy and just read without commenting.

I love your blogs--always, always interesting, and your pictures are wonderful--among the best of all the blogs I read.

  12. That really frosts me. I posted through blogger as I always do and it came out as unknown. Oops, now I see why, below. - Jack Nimble or Hobopals

  13. That is one shiny coach! Great job. I just had to laugh. I saw that one photo of you and thought that you need jeans that fit you not the Jolly Green Giant.

  14. Great job on cleaning the Winnie. Here's a tip for getting bugs off. Dryer sheets. They work like magic. Just wet them and the bugs come right off with little effort.

  15. The best product that will quickly remove bugs & tar from a vehicle is "WD40". WD40 does not harm the finish of your vehicle.

I love your blog and especially your pictures --- please continue to post both.

  16. Same feelings here Al--what do I write about when we are home?? The cowboy and I read your blog every single day and don't find it repetitive, plus we love your photos. Good job on the Winnie but I think you do need some different pants!!

  17. Folks aren't going to remember what you posted a year ago so don't worry about it. I just try to keep a diary of where we've been and what we've done for me. Some RV blogs keep up with the political scene and I don't like that but do as you do and you'll always have followers.

  18. I don't care if you only post what you watched on TV yesterday, just post!

    Love that header shot.

  19. Keep Posting........
Love everything you write, Pheebs, rain or shine, good days, bad days, Canada, USA. Makes no difference..just keep writing.

  20. I've thought several times about putting the blog on hold this time of year. We spend time with family, do all the medical stuff, and stay put longer in one location... can't be too interesting to a reader. Then I remember that my sole purpose is to journal what, where, who, photos and all...for myself!

Good decision on that good looking class A. You'll be so happy and comfortable!

  21. Al, I am a fairly new reader (as others mentioned, though, I have gone back and read many of the archived posts). I think you have quite a gift for making interesting and humorous commentary on even the most mundane occurrences. Hope you will continue sharing. Looking forward to seeing you folks personalize your new RV.
