WINDY MORNING IN THE HARBOR & PANDEMONIUM FOR SUPPER:))

DSC_0035

A rather dismal start to the day with wind driven rain & cooler temps.  No morning walk & I never crawled out of my PJ’s till sometime after 8 a.m.  That’s gotta be a record.  Resigned myself to my recliner.

PINE NEEDLES WERE FALLING LIKE SNOW TODAY & THAT’S OUR PLACE ON THE LEFT

It was exactly 9:46 when I was hit full on the left side of my face by a burst of sunlight through the window.  Startled me.  The energy was instant as I rose up out of my chair to embrace the neutrons, or protons, or whatever kind of trons the sun is dishing out these days.  Pheebs was on her feet, tail wagging.  Kelly had already gone to Deer Park.  Within minutes little Bumble Buns & I were out the door & into the Jeep.  Knew we had to soak up as much sun as we could, while we could.  There wasn’t a lot of it making it through the clouds but it was enough to get us out of the house & kick our butts on down the road.

ON THE ROAD TO GODERICH THIS MORNING

Goderich harbor was our destination.  With stormy skies overhead I knew the north-westerly winds would be whipping up some white water on the lake.  Maybe we could catch a few sun splashes on the choppy waters.  Luckily I had brought along a lined nylon jacket.  What I had not brought along was a pair of gloves & the winds were strong enough & the air cool enough to drive my hands into my pockets between photo clicks.

From the harbor we slipped just outside of town to an Auto Wreckers.  I am missing the long collapsible handle to my bottle jack in the Jeep.  It’s that long steel rod that fit’s into the jack & enables the user to turn it thus cranking the jack & the vehicle up.  I have either lost or misplaced that rod.  Last time I might have used it was near Elfrida Arizona when we had a flat Jeep tire after exploring around Rucker Canyon with Aunt Jean one fine day.  You can read about that day here……..WE ARE AT THE RANCH.....BUT OUR JEEP IS 63 MILES AWAY

DOGGY WAITS PATIENTLY IN THE JEEP WHILE I FINISH UP A FEW PHOTOS

Jenkins Auto Parts is kind of a ‘find it yourself’ type of place.  It was only the second time I had ever been there.  They didn’t have what I was looking for in the shop but he pointed out to me on a map where the Jeep wrecks were located.  Maybe there would be a jack handle out there somewhere.  Just hike out into the large yard & have a looky see.  Remember the rains I’ve been talking about?   Yep, that was one mud infested auto yard I had to slog through looking for the Jeep section.  But I had company.  I had quickly made friends with the junk yards large pit bull looking dog when I first entered the building & he came right along with me as we made our way around the water puddles, pools of mud, & hundreds upon hundreds of wrecked vehicles.  Had us quite a chat as we walked we did.  Finally found the Jeep section.  Oh my, some pretty sorry looking old Jeeps rusting away there.  Managed to pry open a few doors, hatches, & hoods here & there but never did find what I was looking for.  My mission was a bust.  But hey, I made a new friend who I will probably never see again.  He was a mighty fine old junk yard dog if I do say so myself.  And he was darn good company too.  But you know, I think he really might just have been keeping an eye on me to make sure I didn’t snitch anything out of one of those old wrecks:))

Can you imagine getting 2 feet of snow dumped on you in a short period of time.  Happens out in Montana I hear.  Janna over at TIN TEE PEE/LOG CABIN got herself some nice pictures of that.  Same camera she used to get a picture of a bear beside their house just a few days before.  And I hear tell Mike had himself a Birthday Sunday.  Probably spent it shovelling snow & watching over his shoulder for the bear:))

The Vancouver gang blew in about 6:30 for supper. Sure is a change of pace for Kelly & I. Those kids even had Pheebs running for cover. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. We had a tornado-like 3 hour visit with kids flying around everywhere. The action was non stop. We somehow got through supper without any injuries & a good time was had by all:))

GROANER’S CORNER:((     Q: How many folk singers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Two — One to change the bulb, and one to write a song about how good the old light bulb was.

  2. I went to a couple of junk yards with my son looking for a rim. OMG! I'm not a very neat person but having to work around all that mess would make me crazy.

  3. Junk Yard Dogs are very smart. He saw you came in and were welcome by the owner. He watched body language and voice and knew you were OK to mosey through the yard.
If you came back at night and over the fence, it would be a different outcome.

Amazon might have what you need.

  4. That storm wind you had was blowing right over here last night. But the temps didn't drop here - they rose to 15C AT NIGHT!! This morning it is still unusually warm outside. Great storm picture you took!

  5. We didn't get much sunshine here, just cold, windy and rainy.
Sure is bug change with all that company at once. I am sure Kelly enjoyed it.

  6. Your house looks just like ours when we have a Cave-a-palooza...Amazing where we find cookie crumbs and tootsie roll pops hiding when they all leave!

  7. Those grey clouds do look COLD.

Amazing that in all those wrecks grouped by type there was not one jack handle! Some of those yards are 'wired' into a network and can locate a part from another yard across the country??? Ya never know, if you lost it in the desert, it may well be there when you get back to check also.

    Safe travels

  8. With two little ones in a new location, you can expect them to be running in high gear! Kelly sure looks good!
