HAD OURSELVES A LAZY STAY AT HOME DAY

IMG_3521

Every once in a long while comes a day along when I am just quietly comfortable to stay at home. Today was one of those days. Nice looking morning but soon clouded over with a stiff wind driving temperatures down. Maybe it was the wind having it’s wild way with roadside tree branches or maybe it was the fact I had the Jeep's heater on low but coming back from Goderich I sensed a touch of winter in the air which scurried me along a little quicker seeking my cozy comfortable recliner. No restlessness to go anywhere or do anything today. Just crawl under my blanket, Pheebs on my lap, a few re-runs of CORNER GAS on TV & I was reasonably content for awhile. I sometimes like when these kinds of days un-expectantly sneak up & take me by surprise.  I’m sure tomorrow will be different again…..well at least I hope it is.

My blood work at the Maitland Medical Center this morning required fasting so no cup of early morning coffee. The clinic opens at 8 a.m. & I knew a crowd of coffeeless Seniors would be milling around the entrance jockeying for position to be first in to get their blood work done.  First in means first out & home to get the coffee pot on. I knew this because I had arrived there early several times before & became a part of that coffeeless mob scene. Played it smarter this morning by waiting until after 9 before heading to the clinic. The coffeeless gang had been processed by that time & the scene had simmered down. I was number 19 with only half a dozen weary looking folks ahead of me. I was in & out in about 25 minutes. Straight to McDonald's for a coffee & muffin. Had taken my cameras with me but couldn't seem to summon up enough energy to head out & chase down any photos. Think it mainly had to do with the weather.

Must say I was totally surprised by a Guest comment in our Shout Box this morning saying I had written about depression before. Like the Guest, I did a quick search by typing depression into my Search box. I was surprised by what I found. Indeed, I had written about depression before & not just once. Had no recollection of those mentions & for me it's a little scary knowing my memory had not remembered them. Soon as I began reading some of what I had written I did recognize the mentions right away though. My thanks to Guest for pointing out my absentmindedness.

Surprised to see it's August 13th already. When one isn't working it is easy to lose track of  days. I have a small calendar date window on my watch but I don't have a magnifying glass to go along with it to read the date. Kelly & Pheebs headed down to the Library this afternoon with another armload of books to return. Sure is a good thing Bayfield built themselves a new library over this past winter. Quite a challenge keeping Kelly stocked in books. The majority of her day was spent reading in our quiet sunroom. Y'all already know where Pheebs & I were for the day............

  1. Loved the photos of Pheebs in you lap but gotta admit to getting teary eyed. Nothing like the love and companionship of a dog.

  2. Happy to hear you allowed yourself to relax and enjoy the company of Pheebs. I always say I am content when people ask if I am happy in life. Being content is the best anyone can hope for.

Like those kind of days maybe we get one in someday.

  4. My doctor's office used to be a three-minute drive. I'd pour my coffee, race into the office, give them my blood, and be sucking down the coffee within seven minutes. I wasn't fooling around.

  7. Ha~Al! "A touch of winter"...I like that. The ranch owner told me the horses are already shedding out their summer coats and I've seen cottonwoods up there with yellow leaves ALREADY! Methinks you are correct...maybe an early winter this year? Oh, and I have to go "coffeeless" Monday morning for my bloodwork...BLEAH.
    Cheers!

  8. Pheebs is certainly a "snuggle bunny." When I go to sleep at night, Cali is always at the foot of the bed, but when I wake up she is nestled and pressed against my side.

Did I miss how Kelly was doing? Did the test results from the hospital come back yet?

  9. I don't mind the part where they poke you to draw some blood, it's the lack of coffee that starts to get me bent out of shape. Thankfully there's a Tim's close to the medical centre where we go. Just have to make it across that parking lot....

  10. Oh, my gosh, please don't say early winter!!!! We are scheduled in Indy in November for all our Dr. appointments! Not our idea, but that's how it works out. As for the D....it is just part of life. At least our life here and we hear most of our friends coping with the same thing.

  11. Many of the physicians in the Indianapolis hospitals say the New Balance has the best shoes. They wear them, so when I bought my hiking boots, I was sure to get N.B. I think you made a very wise decision.
