WAS IT ILL THOUGHT OUT & IMPATIENT………I THINK NOT!!

AN ALLIGATOR OR JUST PAPA GOOSE KEEPING A LOW PROFILE ON THE POND…….HINT:  WE DON’T GOT NO ALLIGATORS HERE:))

Another beautiful Spring day. Not a lot going on. Hips a bit on the sore side so I kept activities to a minimum for most of the day. Pheebs & Jeeped ourselves to Goderich this morning & ran a few errands. She talked me into going through the drive-thru at McDonald's again. Amazing how she can spot those golden arches up ahead.

I removed a comment in our Shout Box a few days ago. It was not rude, sarcastic, or derogatory but it did suggest our Winnebago purchase was 'another' hurried & ill thought out idea brought on by Kelly's impatience. I don't know how the commenter came to that conclusion if they had been reading our blog for any length of time. I don't think it is possible for a human being to have more patience about anything than Kelly. We have been pouring over RV 's on ‘for sale’ sites since returning from Borrego Springs 3 months ago.  Been looking for a 26' Class C with a walk around bedroom, bigger washroom with enclosed sink, & a comfy couch/bed combination. They are rare & it took us all this time to finally locate one at a decent price in London Ontario. Walk around beds in a 26 footer are about as rare as hen's teeth. Kelly is the one who has been diligently doing the searches simply because she had the patience to wade through all the pages of 'For Sale' ads each day. Whenever something of interest is found we both talk it over & discuss it at length. Decisions at our house are never made by just one person. We bought the Sunseeker at what we considered a fair price in Arizona & knew it could be a springboard to a slightly larger Class C if necessary. And it was. Also, sales tax is only paid on the difference when trading something in & not on the full price of the RV to be purchased. We also figured we had a far better chance of selling our South-West themed & solar equipped Damon Motorhome in the South-West rather than here in Canada.  And we figured right.   But impatient & ill thought out?   No, I think not. Only downside to the whole Sunseeker deal was the amount of stress we endured from the bumbling dealership we bought it from in Quartzsite Arizona plus the whole 'importing process' before reaching the border. We learned enough from all that not to do it again………………………………

THIS PAIR OF MALLARD DUCKS HAVE BEEN HANGING AROUND THE POND LATELY BUT NO SIGN OF A NEST YET

Looking back over our RV decisions through the years I see our truck & fifth wheel decision as the one where we kinda slipped up.  Being fairly new to RVing we went back & forth on trying to decide between a Motorhome or truck/trailer combination. Nothing wrong with trucks & fifth wheels but it just was not the right RV set up for us & our 3 dogs at the time. Only made one winter trip to the South-West with the truck & fiver & upon our return to Canada we traded that truck/trailer combination in on a Class A Motorhome. We ended up keeping that Motorhome for nearly 6 years.

Sherry from IN THE DIRECTION OF OUR DREAMS had a comment question in which she asked. ‘Are you or is Kelly the wheeler/dealer’. Always wished one of us were good at that'. Well Sherry, I wished we were good at that as well but neither Kelly or I are adept at that wheeler/dealer stuff.  Especially me & I just hate having to go through that grinding process every time.  Encouraging to know there are at least 4 of us non wheeler/dealer types in the world now.

Kelly is off to Cambridge in the morning to spend a couple days visiting her kids.  Baby shower coming up Sunday for her youngest daughter so it is a good opportunity for everyone to get together & make a day of it.  Kelly returns Monday & Tuesday morning we pick up the Bago in London.

EVEN OUR LITTLE CEMENT FROG IS HAPPY IT’S SPRING

Pheebs & I made it around the Pine trail this afternoon.  Took my cane along but luckily I hardly had to use it.  Kelly was talking to my Nurse Practitioner a few days ago & was told my hip X-rays will be seen by a panel of London Doctors sometime in the next 3 weeks or so.  Apparently that panel goes over countless thousands of hip X-rays & decides what cases need immediate attention & what cases can wait.  I think that is a fair way of deciding who is in most need of surgery.  Worst first.  Because my pain is not consistent or constant & I am able to move about without pain about 75% of the time I expect I will be near the bottom of that ‘to do’ list somewhere.  If I don’t move my leg I have no pain & If I have to have anything done to this hip at all I would prefer to have it done next April after we get back from Arizona.

I’M GUESSING THIS LITTLE FELLOW AS SOME KIND OF SANDPIPER AT THE POND’S EDGE THIS MORNING

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Marcy walks into a drug store and asks the clerk if she can use the store's baby scale. "Sorry, ma'am," says the clerk. "Our baby scale is broken. But we can figure the baby's weight if we weigh mother and baby together on the adult scale, and then weigh the mother alone, and subtract the second number from the first." "Oh, that won't work," says Marcy. "Why not?" asks the clerk. "Because," she answers, "I'm not the mother - I'm the aunt."

  1. Speaking as a person who went from no problems to 24/7 excruciating pain in my hip in under 6 months, I hope they see you sooner rather than later if you'll be needing replacement surgery. It's not fun, but the difference is amazing.

  2. It's amazing how some people can jump to such wrong conclusions! Good on you that you removed that one from Shout Box! I'm so glad that you TWO found something that will work better for you. Too bad about the "wait time" for your hip. W had surgery on his back Wednesday. Already home. He will be moving lots slower for a while!

  3. Good for you for setting the record straight as far as Kelly is concerned. Anyway, the decision belongs to the two of you and not to anyone else. Looking forward to seeing some more pix of the Winnie when you get her home.

  4. I think a good choice for the hip thingy.
And the Motorhome is your choice only. Don;t think anyone has the right to criticize on your decisions, right or wrong they are yours.
Trial and error works for all of us.
Enjoy your new rig and ignore the rude comments.

  5. Well add two more to your list of people who are not wheelers or dealers. I know you will be better off with a bigger class C, I wish we had a slide.

  6. does the saying 'go pound sand?' mean anything? Have to love those kinds of people who pass judgement and voice their opinions when they don't have all the facts! NOT!
you don't have to justify any decisions you and Kelly make to anyone but yourselves!

  7. If folks would stick to the decisions THEY need to make and let the rest of the world handle theirs it would be so much easier to navigate ...... Who in the world knows or needs to know the dynamics of personal / family decisions ...... Oh well, folks go where they sure don't need to be......
THANK GOODNESS FOR THE ERASE BUTTON !!!!!!
You're so honest Al, that helps keep the air clear and the sun shining ......
The new RV sounds great !!!! I will speak for myself, I am learning some buy and recycle lessons along the way... Thanks, Al and Kelly .... Pheebs too because my Duke likes to covet the front passenger seat as well .....
Always, thanks for SHARING and all the EFFORT it takes to send your blog my way .... All the best, SallyB

  8. Al & Kelly, I read a lot of blogs because I enjoy hearing about rv travels. We did it for awhile and then decided we liked what we were doing (going between our two homes between PA and DE). You two remind us of us traveling back and forth between two favorite places. I can't believe that people have nerve enough to write such comments. I enjoy reading your blog. You are so honest. Keep up the good work. Best wishes to you both for good health and happy travels!!!

  9. Hey! Its your life and decisions that you share with us here... And if you want to try out ten motorhomes while you adjust to the one that fits your needs, then so be it!

If this model doesn't fit just right, after you try it out for a while, then it will go down the road too...

But bloggin about it does open up our worlds to those with a sharp tongue ......

  10. Wishing you the best of luck with your hip surgery. Thankfully we found our perfect motorhome 12 years ago, and only had one before that...for 6 years. Obviously not wheeler/dealer types either. Lynda

  11. I can't believe how some people are quick to judge without knowing ALL the facts. Enjoy the 'Bago....We sure loved ours, even though it was older.

  12. Well, we're on our sixth rig in about six years so I wonder what this person would think of that. And we were just the opposite - we made our biggest mistake when we went from the fiver to the MH. We are definitely fiver people. But you are going to love your Winnie.

  13. I just envey the way you two get things done. You may ditther a long time in private, but from the outside it seems like you make up yourminds pretty quickly. I. thought the Sunseeker might e a bit tight from the start when you mentioed that the bathroom was not big enough for both you and your hat! Glad your foud a walk around bed. It was a must for us.

  14. Thanks for the shout out Al. I'm glad to be in such good company. Your Sunseeker/Winnie move makes perfect sense to me.

  15. I guess that when we blog and give open season to our own personal decisions,we will get a few who insist they have a better idea...To those who choose to say so with rudeness and no "moxey"...I say "You have issues expressing your thoughts. Go sit in the corner until you can be nicer".

  16. I find it difficult to understand people who would comment on how you are choosing to live your life. They must have nothing better to do than try and live your life for you.

I admire your analytical qualities that help you make the best decisions. You always do the pros and cons. we are like that also.

As to the hip....get it done. I just found out 2 days ago that I need a new left hip but it might be a 6 month wait which will affect our travels to Mexico but things might work out. To be out of pain is worth it.

  17. People like that just frost my butt! Of course, they'd never say it to your face, just hide behind their keyboard. Deep down, I think they're just jealous, wishing they had the gumption to make decisions that are for the best.

As a two time Winny owner, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new MH, great quality and support. :c)
