WE LEFT THIS MORNING WITH OUR DAMON MOTORHOME & RETURNED THIS AFTERNOON……WITH OUR DAMON MOTORHOME:((

“OH NO, MOM & DAD JUST TOLD ME WE DIDN’T GET THE NEW RIG”

Well, I guess the phrase, ‘some days you win & some days you lose’ applies to us today.  In the past 20 years, Kelly & I have sure had our share of winning a few but today it just wasn’t to be.

---

I had a feeling all week the deal might just fall through, & it did.  Nothing to do with finances & everything to do with our kinda wild southwest interior paint & décor & the fact we had got rid of all the rig’s uncomfortable furniture years ago etc. etc. (I’m sure some of you already expected that) I may write more about today’s ordeal in the coming days but for now it is what it is. My biggest regret is that we missed out on the super good deal with that particular low mileage & upgraded 2013 Chevy Sunseeker we were after.

---

Off to plan B now.  I have absolutely no idea what plan B is yet but I’m sure we’ll think of something.  We usually do.

NOTHING LIKE A FEW UPSIDE DOWN PHEEBER PICS TO CHEER UP ‘THE BUNCH’

And a big apology to Ivan & Wandering Willy who, coincidentally were in Quartzsite’s McDonald’s this afternoon when Kelly went in to get us a bite to eat & coffee to go.  It was right after our deal fell through & we (especially me) just weren’t in the mood for talking to anyone.  Just wanted to get out of town & go home.  Sorry guys………

---

I may be back with a post tomorrow or I just may keep it simple & relaxingly scratch around outside with my little shovel & rake for a few days & let today’s events just quietly fade away…….10-4.

“OHHHHH,  I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE IT”

GROANER’S CORNER:((   A young minister sitting down to dinner was about to say Grace when he opened the casserole dish that his thrifty bride had prepared from all of the refrigerator leftovers.  "I don't know," he said dubiously, "but it seems to me that I've blessed all this stuff already."

  1. Disappointment sucks. But it may lead to something better.

  2. Look at it this way - you still have your money.

If you can sell it yourself, you can do an even better deal when you walk in with all cash and no trade. And I think there's someone out there who would love a beautiful well-cared for rig like yours.

  3. AWWW!
But personally I agree with Jim and Sandy.
There is something else out there for you. When the time is right you will see it and everything will fall into place.

  4. I'm sure if you sell it yourself you will find a buyer who appreciates your taste and decor. Dealers want "vanilla." Not hot peppers!

I'm starting to add some special touches to the Alfa, but I'm also trying to keep them removable in case we want to trade it in after we actually go full time.

(ok, that's seven words, but you get my point)

  6. Just this morning I was telling W that I hoped your deal didn't fall through because of your modifications! Am so sorry!
I remember that somebody in shoutbox wanted you to call them before you sold your rig. There are those who appreciate your beautiful job on it! Hopefully a better deal will come along and you'll be glad this one didn't happen. Until then, sure am hoping the two of you don't stay depressed for long! Maybe that Arizona sunshine will fix you up? And the impending visit of Aunt Jean?

  7. This one just wasn't meant to be but the right one will come along, at the right time and place.

    Dang expectations. :(

  8. Well that sucks, but like others said, it wasn't meant to be and something better will come around.

  9. To bad so sad, guess it was just not meant to be. Something else will come along again.

  10. Well I can't remember if I've ever seen the inside of the Damon but I just can't imagine with Kelly's taste that it isn't fabulous. I mean your other two houses are. So I don't get it at all. Really sorry to hear this. I was looking forward to seeing it. Hope you can sell the Damon. Who knows that one or another may still be around. Sympathizing with your bummed out feeling.

  11. We are sooo sorry. Hope you can find that person in your shout box that wanted the chance at your rig. If not, there is something better out there.

  12. Sorry, Al. Disappointments are always so hard for me to take, too. Seem to get really discouraged when that happens, too. Tend to turn negative about most things. I've been trying to overcome that tendency in myself, but it is very hard. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that your deal on that Sunseeker didn't get put together. Sometimes they work out in the end. Walking away willingly sometimes causes the other side to take a long look and reconsider their position. If not, there is always another RV to look at in the future. We looked for a long time before finding our Lazy Daze. We don't call it Therapy for nothing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Kelly tonight.

  13. There is a reason for everything, and it will all work out as it should. I firmly believe that.

  14. I have a feeling someone might have loved that southwest interior...Some things happen for reasons...yours is yet to come.

  15. We have never held back from personalizing any of our homes, and I hope we never will. Annie and I agree that we love your mods, and someone else will, too.

  16. I'm not certain that RV's are selling too well this spring, so perhaps the dealer is overly sensitive to the personalization you have done on the Damon... Worrying them it would be harder to sell in this market.. But for what ever reason it doesn't seem meant to be... Ya just gotta hold your head high and move on... You just haven't found the right guy yet....

  17. Sorry Pheebs took the news so hard (ha-ha). I know you're disappointed. Remember when you were looking for dogs and you didn't get the one you looked at before you got Pheebs? Some things are meant to be and if you have as much luck finding the right motorhome as you did in finding the right fur kid, then you know it will all work out for the best. Thinking of you and Kelly.

  18. sorry to hear that the plan didn't come together today, Al and Kelly..things happen for a reason and as disappointed as you are tonight..you will find the right one when you least expect it!
    hang in there!

  19. What a disappointing turn of events. A new home WILL be found for your Damon, in time. Perhaps a far superior deal awaits you. A tough lesson learned, but really, would you have done anything differently, even had you known? I suspect the two of you are too iconoclastic to be swayed by marketing considerations. Good luck as you hunt up a new deal to be excited about.

  20. So sorry the deal fell through Al. But you may be able to replace the " rig’s uncomfortable furniture" right there in Q. The place is called Gamblers Rv Supply, 55 Kuehn St, Quartzsite, phone # 928-927-5966

  21. So sorry Al and Kelly....I know how disappointed you are but I also believe everything happens for a reason. Just wait, the best is yet to come. You need to come over and get some of these GOOD oranges. Hugs..........Pat

  22. Thinking of you both today - hang in there! (((HUGS)))

  23. Al, I'm sorry to read about the latest development of your motor home deal. One thing to have in mind: Don't get sidetracked by comments from Canadian dealers or others "warning" about a nightmare with importing a rig to Canada. There is none! And it's done every day by the thousands! There is an outfit at Elkhart, IN, called RV-surplus where you can buy dinettes, couches, kitchens, -just about everything you can find on an RV. Your rig will not loose a lot of value if you do the deal next year. Also remember that RVs never do a whole lot of mileage. So you might find another Sunseeker next year with a bit more mileage which will be even cheaper to buy than the one you missed out on.

  24. How disappointing...we wondered if there was some thought after making the deal that made the salesman uneasy and your "decor" was just an excuse. Most people would rather furnish their own rigs and I didn't see any purple polka dots anywhere. The best is yet to come...Hugs

  25. Bummer...it is a little easier but I don't know why people use a dealer anyway...especially if you have cash or your own financing. Worse come to worse you just keep what you have for a while...which is pretty darn nice!
