OUR GHOST TOWN ROAD HOUSE FINALLY HAS IT’S MUSICAL HEART:))

OUR HOME SECURITY SYSTEM…PHEEBS & SPENCER

Couldn’t help but notice it was warmer in Bayfield Ontario this morning than it was here in Congress Arizona.  But, no matter….wouldn’t trade places for 1 milli-second.  I know what it looks like there with all the leaves off the trees & shrubs, gray days, & damp.  And, I know winter is right round the corner waiting to pounce.  Nope, give me the sunshine, the warm days, the mountains, valleys, canyons, forests, clear starry nights, & rolling deserts any day.  Well, maybe not the hot desert areas in the summer time.  Oh, & today’s temperatures here on sunny Ghost Town Road today…..77:))

BUTTERFLIES IN OUR SALVIA & ROSEMARY TODAY

Kelly  & I  headed off over to the Cactus Lady’s house this morning.  First time I had been there & the first time I met Marge & Phil.  Really nice folks with a really nice place.  There is greenery everywhere including a small greenhouse.  It is very apparent this is a labor of love for Marge as she & hubby Phil showed us around explaining all the various Cacti & other plants.  Probably isn’t very much she doesn’t know about southwest gardening & everything that grows there.  She gave us a bunch of cuttings so as soon as we arrived back home, I was busy with my gloves & shovel.  I am a very lucky fellow to have things to do that I enjoy doing.  As I have said before, give me a shovel, a pile of dirt & something to do & I am a happy guy.

FIGHTER JETS?  NOPE, JUST UNCLE EBENEZER & AUNT MATILDA ON A COMMERCIAL FLIGHT FROM LA TO JFK

Sooooo nice to finally have continuous music in the house.  Up to now we’ve just had a small radio with annoying local commercial radio stations or the TV with it’s tin can sound.  Kelly found a Sirius Satellite Radio Boom Box on Ebay last week & after successfully bidding on it the Boom Box arrived via UPS Monday.  She got a great deal.  We weren’t long in plugging our Sirius Satellite radio in to the Boomer & filling the house from wall to wall, floor to ceiling, with relaxing ambient music.  Channel 068 – ‘The Spa’.  Our house now has it’s heart & my days are now complete.  Oh how melodically sweet it is………..:))

THIS IS A GOOD BOOMER, GREAT SOUND QUALITY COMPLETE WITH A SUB WOOFER WHICH IS A MUST FOR ME…FOUND THAT EMPTY ‘HAVE GUN’ VCR TAPE JACKET IN AN OLD ABANDONED & TRASHED CABIN NEAR DESERT CENTER CALIFORNIA LAST FEBRUARY

Always thought Wikieup was a neat sounding word.  It is an Indian phrase meaning, “conical house formed from cedar boughs using a single slope form.”  There is also a small dusty little western town in Arizona called WIKIEUP.  Think we’ll slide the Jeep out one morning this week & go have us a look at this old historical place with a rather neat-o sounding name.  Wikieup, sounds like giddyup.  Yeserieeee, we are in the wild, wild, west alright……  Wikieup, just kinda rolls off your tongue eh:))

The ongoing various stages of aging is a somewhat complicated thing at times.  There is no precise ending of one stage & beginning of another.  No line in the sand, no sudden change.  The stages just simply meld together so one seldom knows if one has grown out of one phase & into the next phase or not.  This is quite often made apparent to me when it comes to appetite.

Mornings seem to be my big feed bag time.  The young boy inside let’s me know he is hungry.  The teenager inside let’s me know he is ravenously hungry big time & it is this super charged teenage appetite which demands the volume of food to be consumed.  And, this is where I get myself into trouble.

WE ARE AS SNUG AS 3 BUGS IN A RUG HERE

Saturday morning in Wickenburg, I got a big hungry going on so we stopped at the Country Kitchen.  My inner teenager seized the menu & ordered something with a lot of volume to it.  My middle age self knew better but went along with the idea anyway, leaving my current Senior self to try & eat absolutely everything the teen had ordered.  Seeing's how my younger self was born in the mid 40’s, I am the product of that old ‘clean up your plate or else” generation!!  So, you can see my dilemma with this aging thing.  No way can my Senior tummy hold the volume of food my teen-age self thinks it needs.  And with my young boys tummy trained to clean up my plate……well, no wonder I had a couple down days feeling like I had swallowed a cannonball.  No, this aging process is not a simple thing at all & next time out I will probably turn right around & make the same old mistake all over again.  No matter the age, I still fall victim to yummy in the tummy……teenage style:((

  3. I have Sirius radio and use the online when all I have access to is the computer. Beats commercials any day. In the camper I have a mount and speakers like in the car. Love it.

  4. Your place is looking so cozy and homey.
We love our Sirius boombox, it's got some darn good sound.

  5. I am several years older than you are and I was like you about ordering food. What I learned a few years ago was that you eat part and take the rest home. In the end you do clean your plate, you get two meals from one order, and that reduces you meal cost by half. Now you can afford to eat at nicer places.

  8. Too much food throws me in the tank, too. It happens every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and every time someone takes us out for dinner.
There is definitely a connection between food and mood.

  9. Yep I too have the same problem, but not hungry until I start to eat, can never get enough, gotta clean up that plate, then I suffer. Thats why we like to eat at home I portion the meals here and feel so much better.
Once and a while go out to a buffet with friends and then I am in real trouble.
I do wish that I had my own hearing back so that I could appreciate the music we love.
    The house is looking awesome!

  11. I discovered that very thing a few days ago when I realized I was only comfortable eating a certain amount of food, and to hell with trying to gain weight! I now feel healthier and happier, and don't have that overstuffed feeling.

  12. Your Casa is looking very cozy. I try not to eat large meals as that makes me eat more next time. Enjoy the boom box.

  13. I think one of the important lessons I have taught my grandkids is there is NO clean plate club at Grandma's house. I teach them not to waste food but if they happen to take too much, they are told they can stop eating when they feel full. Wish I had been taught that way!!

Pheebs sure looks relaxed out there in her yard.
