OUR DAY JUST KIND OF WENT TO THE DOGS

THAT GUINNESS IS REALLY GETTING TO BE A BIG BOY
Happy to say about 90% of the aches & pains in my legs from Friday were gone when I woke up this morning. Must be little magic fairies that sometimes come in the night & make things right with their healing powers & sprinkles of magic dust.

TWO BLACK DOGGIES IN OUR NEW CAMPFIRE PIT THIS AFTERNOON
Looked like rain this morning so Pheebs & had ourselves busy loading the utility trailer with old rotten stumps, yard waste, & tree limbs. Only minutes after returning from the Park's yard waste recycle area it began raining, forcing us indoors again. Had no intentions of going anywhere until I happened to look a flyer from the newly opened Staples store in Goderich. They had a limited number of 64GB Flash Drives on sale today so Pheebs & I headed off for Goderich toot sweet. Rained all the way there & all the way back but we did get our Flash Drive for $19.95. Nice new store located in Goderich's east end. And how great it is not having to go through one single traffic light to access Staples, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Pet Value, Shell Gas Bar, Tim Hortons, Zehrs Supermarket & the Dollar Store. I better include Harveys, the Haircutters & Pharma Plus in that line up too:))DSC_0004

THESE TWO WILD CHARACTERS CARRIED ON LIKE THIS FOR A LONG TIME
More clearing of foliage in the backyard as I worked on cleaning up & downsizing another flower bed.  More tree branches to be trimmed & more pea gravel moved around.  All work stopped when Kelly arrived home from work though…..with Guinness:))  Readers will remember Guinness & Stella from our previous dog sitting week-ends.  Stella was off to Toronto today with her Mom & it was decided Guinness would have a sleep over with Pheebs at our house.  I like when that happens:))

A COUPLE OF BEST PALS TAKING A MUCH NEEDED BREAK
Didn’t take but a few minutes for Pheebs & Guinness to have all my evenly raked pea gravel scattered asunder as they raced around the yard at hundreds of miles an hour.  These two guys are just the biggest Pals with the biggest loads of boundless energy.  It is just a joy to watch their antics as they jump, role, & cajole.  Guinness is bigger & heavier than Pheebs now but no matter, as first one chases the other & then vice versa.  Pheebs gives as good as she gets.  I just love watching dogs having so much fun.  And, I love to get down on the floor & kibbitz with them as well.  They just have a habit of bringing out the old playful dog in me.

GUINNESS IS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD & ALREADY HE IS HUGE
The Gals over at THE GOOD LUCK DUCK are in Kanab Utah at the moment doing something I have thought about many times but have never done. They are volunteering & helping out at an animal shelter called BEST FRIENDS. I think people who help out at these places are to be commended. It takes a strong resolve & courage to put oneself in an emotional setting like that. At least for me it would. I am basically an unemotional guy when it comes to a lot of things but where animals are concerned I come apart at the seams & turn into a big ball of mush. Maybe I would be just fine working with animals, or, maybe not. Suppose I will never know unless I try sometime...........

KELLY SPENDS TIME WITH GUINNESS OVER AT DEER PARK LODGE & THEY ARE BIG PALS
And, a heart stopping moment over at DESERT DIVA & CALI as little Cali is struck by a passing flatbed trailer being towed by a truck. This is every pet owners worst nightmare & I can only imagine the absolute horror of seeing one's best Pal being struck down. In Cheryl's words, "I saw her role and come out the other side". Check out Cheryl's post for what happened next............

  1. The kids look cute together.

You would do as well as I do, Al, when I get all blubbery hearing their stories, and then seeing the love they get now. It's a good place, and I think you'd feel good about it, even if it made you mushy.

  2. Absolutely love the photo of Pheebs and Guiness nose to nose looking at each other. They look like they are sharing a secret. Al no one will ever be able to figure out the negative people, they really arent worth your time. At the restaurant some of the customers come in with a chip on their shoulder or mad at who knows what, but fortunately they are in the minority

  3. Wow only 7 months. How big will he get when he's FULL grown? He's really gorgeous.

I feel sorry for people who are so negative all the time. It must make for a very sad and unhappy life.

    Happy Fall Equinox!

  6. Them be some happy dog pic's. It is wonderful they get along and play until exhausted. You just may lose the fire pit to the dogs.

  7. Pheebs and Guinness remind me of Sophie and Louie when they get going, they have made their own paths all through the garden. Wonderful pictures of the two pals.

  8. Strange as it may seem, Cali is the closest (and longest) relationship I have ever had.

I had talked with the "Ducks" when I met them in Kanab about you and Kelly and I think that you both "get" the bond between animals and their owners. Sometimes, I am sad that Cali will be eleven in October and I worry about how much more time I will have with her.

I'm not ashamed to say that Cali is my "rock." We have a special bond. Once, when hiking I forded a stream and Cali got caught up in the current. She just looked at me and knew that I would rescue her. I sometimes fear that I love her too much.

While I was once married and am now divorced (for an eternity now), Cali has filled that "hole in my heart" for companionship and
    "love" without any strings attached.

I've probably said too much, but all of it is true...

  9. Our fur babies are So important and fill life with love and laughter. I think like you Al about Best Friends, a wonderful place where I'd end up with a new family member that couldn't go to Central America with me this winter. So I wait.

  11. The greatest unconditional love is that between an animal and a human. Nothing surpasses it, dogs know no boundaries. They don't critisize, they don't discriminate.
As long as you love them, they will love you.

    Great photos today!

Negative people are unhappy people that need to destroy the world around them to make themselves feel better. Ignore them and they will move along to someone else.

    Cheers!
