SOMETIMES, SITTING HERE IN OUR SUNROOM………..

DSC_6927

JUST A FEW PHOTOS FROM AROUND THE YARD TODAY

Another mighty fine late August day. Spent my morning puttering in the gardens. If I don't keep the jungle trimmed back I'm afraid it will one day slip into the house unnoticed & grow itself right into my socks drawer. We have a large Sunburst Locust tree out front near our porch spreading it's ever reaching branches over our roof. Have to keep those branches trimmed back. This afternoon, Kelly & I helped neighbor Maureen get her brand spanking new Lenova computer up & running.

TRIMMING SOME TREE BRANCHES THIS MORNING

Sometimes, sitting here in the quiet splendour of our bright pine sunroom I occasionally wonder why we would ever want to leave here. I watch nature’s many birds flitting about among the tree branches. Blue Jays, Mourning Doves, Goldfinches, Black Cap Chickadees & a whole assortment of Sparrows. Sunlight filters through tall Pine trees dappling shrubs & flowers in it’s warm glow.   Our front yard pond's trickling waterfall reaches my ears & I can see dancing water reflections on the underside leaves of our Locust tree.  Soon, evening chills will remind me to turn on our cozy fireplace. Sometimes, I just sit here…………and wonder.

A RIPPLING REFLECTION IN OUR FRONT YARD POND

Most boats rest comfortably in the water while at anchor or tied up along side at a dock. Well, the majority of boats do that is, but it's not the norm where Ivan is. Here, boats spend part of their time sitting in the mud. Yep, just sitting there like beached whales waiting for some water to come rolling in & re-float them. Check out his post to see what a bunch of fishing boats look like out of water.....FUNDY

A SPRIG OF CLOVER IN THE GARDEN

GROANER'S CORNER:)) A male frog goes to a psychic. The psychic tells him, "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."
The frog becomes excited, "This is great! Will I meet her at a party?"
"No," says the psychic, "in her biology class."

  2. Even those of us with a restless spirit like to bask for a while in one of our favorite places, and wonder why we eventually get the urge to move on.

  3. I do the same thing....look around and wonder why this isn't enough, then I remember November.

  4. Funny you should write that, Al. Not too long ago I had the same thought and decided that right here is where I am and where I want to be...with the freedom to leave when I want to, of course!

OK, I thought this was a continuation of your thoughts about why leave such a comfy place. Well, until I saw the word Ivan, I thought you were talking about Al. It kind of fits Al, too, I think. :)

  6. Our birds packed up and flew South two weeks ago. Just a dang barking squirrel wondering where the feeder went. Time is zooming for us now and we will be in Fundy Oct 4 thru the 8th and then on to Nova Scotia for a while. I do like the way your windows are set up to see the wildlife. I just get Moose and Bears looking into my ground level window. I am back to reading that almost worthless Nikon D-50 book to get my new 3000mm lens working with it. I may learn to use it someday. My hope is to take it to Tucson with me in December and get a picture of the moon as good as one of yours.

  8. Sometimes I just don't feel like I have a home, home anymore. I have a little place up here in the Black hills and a little place down in AZ,,When I am at those places I feel like I'm just visiting.....But I guess we are all really just visiting this world....

    Like a rolling stone?"

To some, it is the feel of freedom. To others, it is the feel of loss and loneliness...

  11. I often do the same. This summer has been so nice I wonder why I would want to be anywhere else!

Then I remember seeing Crater Lake for the first time.

How many other breath taking sights are there out there.

    I want to go.
