PHEEBS TAKES AN UNEXPECTED DIP

DSC_0001

Well, on to some lighter blog fare. If I can’t think of any material in the next little while I’ll just have to get myself out there & create me a batch of new stuff. We have warmer weather headed our way this week & that should make for some nice Spring photo opportunities, motorcycle runs, & back road Jeep tours. I will be bopping around the countryside between medical appointments as well so I fully expect to find some interesting blog fodder in my travels. Yes indeed, could be an interesting summer coming up.
NEW BEACH UMBRELLAS AWAIT THE SUMMER GUESTS ON DEER PARK LODGE’S BEACH >>>
Bringing in our 4 bird feeders every night means I have to carry them out again in the morning. Pheebs always helps me with this little chore & I think that is pretty nice of her. It’s funny how the birds wait for those feeders to come out. Soon as I step onto the porch with a couple feeders in hand the joyous chirping begins & the birds are all a-flutter in the trees & shrubs around our front yard. Breakfast is served. Pheebs quickly darts about making sure that rascally Raccoon isn’t hiding behind a bush somewhere. She also disperses any lurking black Squirrels or Cats from the area as well. Neighbor’s cats are a problem because they kill the birds, frogs, small red Squirrels & Chipmunks in our yard. We don’t want Pheebs to hurt any of the Squirrels or Cats but we do want her to put the scary bajeebers into them just the same!!

Kelly will be back to work full time for the summer at Deer Park Lodge in a couple weeks. Very handy for her because Deer Park is only about a mile from our place right on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron. A lot of renovations & landscaping going on there right now before all the tourists & summer guests come rolling in.  Loaded up the Pheebs & took a drive over for a look see around. Nice new pond & waterfall up & running. Cabins are looking great with their new coats of interior paint, new floors & walls etc. Deer Park probably has one of the finest private beaches in this whole area so we headed down for a walk along the water’s edge. Lake Huron was showing off her beautiful aqua marine greens & blue colors again today. Tried to coax the Pheebs in for a dip but she would have no part of it. She’s just not a water dog. Kinda like me, I’m not a big water critter either. Swimming pools & hot tubs just don’t cut if for me. Guess I’m just an old desert rat at heart.  Max & Checkers loved the water but the little Motormouse just hated it.

NICE DAY FOR A WALK ON THE BEACH

Pheebs did take an unexpected dip though when I called her from across a shallow pool of water next to the lake.  As she came running down the beach I think she thought she could just race right across the top of the pool.  ‘Ker-Ssssplash’  I could tell she was startled as she quickly hauled herself back up & out of the cold, wet watery water.  She then raced around the end of it running up to me shaking the water off in all directions as she came.

PHEEBS HAULED HERSELF OUT OF THAT DARNED WET WATER PRETTY QUICK
Our temps had dropped to about 28F last night & I forgot to crack on a little heat in the Motorhome but after a quick check this morning everything appeared fine. Think it was two years ago a pipe broke in our kitchen faucet when the temps dipped well below freezing for a couple nights in early April.

NICE WASHROOM ON THE BEACH WAITS PATIENTLY FOR PATRONS TO BE SEATED

Enough warmth in the sun this afternoon to warm up the metal on the Motorcycle allowing me to have another go at all the pitted chrome with some rubbing compound. Shined up well but I’m afraid once chrome is pitted, that’s it.

THIS OLD DRIFTWOOD TREE HAD BEEN IN THE WATER A LONG TIME & MAY HAVE FLOATED ACROSS THE LAKE FROM THE MICHIGAN SIDE
Three new Blog Followers today. I think ROBBIE came aboard Saturday along with Don & Donna from DRIVING MISS DONNA. Noticed CINDY joined our travels this afternoon. The Bayfield Bunch welcomes you folks aboard & thanks you all for your interest:))

BEACH CHAIRS WAITING ON THEIR RETURN TRIP TO THE BEACH SHORTLY
I have a 9 a.m. appointment with my Nurse Practitioner in the morning to see what we can do about these legs of mine. Just too much pain in my legs to be Arthritis I’m thinking.  My mobility is now being affected.  Also have to get a couple other problems looked at that have cropped up as well. Imagine these things are going to result in more appointments, tests & probably some more yukky unmentionable procedures. But, first things first so we’ll see what comes out of tomorrow. If things get too rough I think I’ll just jump in the Jeep, drive back to Arizona, & hide myself behind a big old Saguaro Cactus for awhile.

THERE IS MORE TO DEER PARK LODGE’S BEACH THAN JUST A SANDY BEACH
GROANER’S CORNER:(( A Christian missionary was making his first visit to a Cannibalistic tribe in Borneo. The missionary asked the chief, "Do you people know anything about religion?" After a pause, the chief answered, "We got a little taste of it when the last missionary was here."

  1. What a beach!
Poor Pheebs. Molly shares the same opinion. Water -rather not. Or - maybe up to the belly, when it is REALLY hot outside.

  2. Your problem with your legs could be related to food. I had terrible pains from Nov to Feb when I found out I had sensitivity to beef and pork as well as many others. Just a thought.

  3. Back to work full time - the words scare me. I guess Kelly doesnt' mind. Actually maybe I wouldn't either if I had a summer job at a wonderful lodge.

Although I'm a water lover for sure, I don't actually like to go in until it is WARM outside. Sorry for Pheebs but she seems to have made the best of it.

  4. You know, Al, Mo had to actually teach Abby to swim. She was five or so when we rescued her from the pound. Mo wanted a swimming dog, so we took her to the water. She had no idea what to do. Mo went in, and Abby of course followed, (that darn separation anxiety worked great in this case). Now swimming is something she truly loves. Especially catching a ball out in the water. You might try it some warm day with Pheebs. The two of them look so much alike I imagine Pheebs to be like Abby.

  5. Had to laugh at poor Pheebs, Riggs loves the water, but we had a shepherd that was like Pheebs. Her expression reminded of our Heidi's when she jumped off a diving board to save (at least in her mind) our son.
The crap what did I just do. Sam had to swim over and guide her to the steps.

  6. I can't even swim, so if a dog gets into the water around me, i can't rescue them, they better be able to rescue me - that's one reason I admire what Kelly did, that could've been me she was having to save. :)

As for the legs, glad you're going to the doc. My mom had the same problem and it was her heart. Hope yours isn't the case, but it was treatable with meds. Don't you love all these internet prognoses from your readers?

I do understand the wanting to run off to hide beind a big cactus. I'm waiting to hear back on some x-rays I just had and I feel the same way. I'm a bit closer to Arizona than you, though. :)

  9. What a wonderful beach. Pheebs looks a little surprised about the wet stuff. Good luck with the doctor stuff.

Was a delightful 85F in Congress yesterday.

  10. Finally some sunshine and warmth in Ontario. A little warmer and we will be checking out the shores on beautiful lake Huron as well. Good luck at the docs.

  11. Its 3 and a half weeks before we leave the great desert......I'm anxious, but when I hear about those cool nights it make me happy to be right here for a while... Hope you find out your leg problem,,,been there and its no fun!!

  12. I had a black lab who felt the same way Pheebs does about the water. He didn't like it at all, which is unusual for a lab. It will be good to at least find out what's causing you pain in your legs. Hope it's something simple to cure.

  13. I fought squirrels, aka tree rats, for years, finally found a tree with a limb sticking straight out the side about 16 to 20 feet up with no other tree or limbs within about 10 or 15 feet. I ran a sixteen ga wire over the limb and down to a board about 6 feet long about nine or ten feet off the ground, attached the wire to both ends and hung the feeders on the board. No more problems. Only humans with a small ladder or birds can get to them. Unless the human forgets and leaves the ladder standing there.

  14. Take care of your legs, Al, because they take care of you. Just like tires on a motorhome, if they are in bad shape, however, you can replace them. A little harder to do with legs, so do take care of them, even if it involves "yukky unmentionable procedures!"

  15. Love, love, love the photos of the beach and especially Pheebs running in the water. My little Zhih Tzu loves the water but in the beginning, I had to show her how much fun it was.

  16. Really enjoy your photos. Working on Macro, to no avail. Sure it's the user and not the camera :-) Thanks for the blog advice yesterday.
