WE HAVE A PRETTY TIRED & SORE LITTLE GIRL AT HOME TONIGHT

DSC_0025

OUR LITTLE SUPER PHEEBS ISN’T FEELING SO SWELL TONIGHT………………….

I had the most pleasant experience this morning of waking up to a little Pheebe face on my pillow right next to me.  She is so considerate not to disturb me while I'm sleeping but as soon as I wake up & talk to her I am immediately pinned to the bed & smothered in big slurpy doggy smooches.  With her wildly wagging tail it is all I can do to keep from being knocked right out of my own bed.  Pheeber Fever indeed:))

MORNING PLAYTIME BEFORE PHEEBE HEADS OFF TO SEE THE VET

No breakfast for the Pheebs this morning because of her spaying procedure.  We loaded our happy little dog into the Jeep about about 8:15 & headed for the Vet's in Zurich, Ontario.  While Kelly signed some papers Pheebe checked out all the bags of dog food in the office & then it was time for her to be led into the operating room with the Vet.  Her wagging tail was all a blur as she disappeared around the corner & that was it.  Kelly & I headed home.

MOTOR IS ALREADY MISSING HER NEWEST BEST PAL……………….

We had a few errands to run this morning so Kelly & I loaded up the Motormouse & Jeeped ourselves on up to Goderich.  A few items at the Canadian Tire Store, some groceries at the Supermarket & then it was off to downtown Goderich to pick up a couple more Dawgs.  Kelly had brought home a couple Dawgs Thursday & figured I should have my own Dawgs as well.  She didn't want me to get the wrong one’s so her sole purpose for coming along to Goderich was to make sure I didn't forget to pick up my Dawgs at the Shoe Barn.  Sooooo, now besides Pheebe, we have four more Dawgs in the house.

THOSE ARE KELLY’S 2 DAWGS WITH THE BEIGE STRAPS & MINE ARE THE PLAIN ONES…NO MORE WET FEET FOR ME IN THE MORNING

Our final destination before leaving Goderich was Motor's favourite stop, McDonalds.  Kelly doesn't like the Drive-Thru so we parked the Jeep while she went in for the eats.  I broke from our traditional Burritos routine & shared a Sausage McMuffin with the Kid.  Kelly ate hers outside at a picnic table because she got Motor-mugged as soon as she got in the Jeep.  Did you know that no matter what size coffee you get at McDonald's it's all the same price.  I stuck with my small size but Kelly of course Kelly made sure she got her money’s worth & came out with a whole pale full for herself.  (which she later regretted)

We phoned the Vet at 1 to see how our little Pheebmonster was doing & they said everything had went well & we could pick her up around 3.  We had noticed Pheebe shaking her head this past week so we had suspected an ear infection & the Vet confirmed that.  We had also noticed Pheebs Dew claws on her back legs were very loose & the Vet agreed, so she also had those dew claws removed.  Add to all that a rabies shot & you know we picked up a very tired & groggy little girl.  We are so pleased since switching to the South Huron Veterinary Clinic a couple years ago.  Great staff & they go the extra mile to explain everything.  And, a big thanks to Pheebe’s previous owners Crystal & Mat for covering the cost of the Pheebster’s Spaying procedure……..Smile

HERE SHE COMES UNDER HER OWN STEAM AT THE VET CLINIC THIS AFTERNOON

Pheebs was able to walk to the Jeep but I had to lift her in.  By the time we got her home she was totally beat & I had to carry her into the house.  She just laid on the floor & fell asleep.  She has a large plastic collar around her head & pink bandages on her legs.  Saturday morning we begin the anti-biotics for her ear infection plus some pain pills.  I think it is going to be a real challenge for us to keep that plastic collar on her but we can't risk the chance of her pulling out the stitches.  And, no walks other than leashed bathroom breaks in our back yard.  This is going to be like trying to contain an exploding stick of dynamite in a Kleenex!!  Monday afternoon she goes back to have the bandages on her legs changed.

LOADED UP & READY FOR HOME

THE LAST PARAGRAPH:  So hard to stand helplessly by when we know our beloved pets are under so much stress.  As human beings we are able to communicate with each other explaining difficult situations & predicaments.  Pheebe has no idea why she has a big plastic cone on her head.  No idea why here hind legs are bandaged & has no understanding as to why she is feeling so yukky right now.  Even my best efforts cannot get that furry little tail to wag.  As she claws away at trying to remove that awful thing around her head it is all I can do not to jump up & help her get it off.  But, we are humans, and we understand these things..........well, don’t we??

THE LITTLE PHEEBER WAS TOO POOPED TO WALK WHEN WE GOT HOME SO DAD HAD TO CARRY HER IN….NOTICE HER CUTE PINK SOCKS. (BANDAGES)

GROANER'S CORNER:((    A woman brought a very limp duck in to a veterinary surgeon. As she lay her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.
After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, your duck has passed away."
The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," he replied.
"How can you be so sure," she protested. "I mean, you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."
The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room, and returned a few moments later with a black Labrador retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table, and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.
The vet patted the dog and took it out, and returned a few moments later with a cat. The cat jumped up on the table and also sniffed delicately at the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on it's haunches, shook its head, meowed softly, and strolled out of the room.
The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100 percent certifiably, a dead duck." Then the vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill.
"$150!", she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!!"
The vet shrugged. "I'm sorry. If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the lab report and the cat scan, it's now $150.00."

  1. Those Elizabethan collar thingies are horrible things but a necessity. Our dog used to be really embarrassed to even go for a walk with it on.

  2. Pheebes is so lucky, as is Cora, to have such loving, attentive parents. I know she will be feeling much better quite soon, ready to play with Cora again. So lovely to see the two of them interacting together! Hope the four of you have a relaxing, mellow weekend.

  3. Looks like to me that you are a great dad to Pheebe. Glad she got home the same day and she is doing well.
You are so right, it is hard to see a family pet member in stress or pain.
Take care and soon she will be licking you up and down again.

  7. I feel so sorry for poor little Pheebe. But by tomorrow she's going to be feeling so much better and you're right, keeping her under control until those stitches come out is going to be quite the challenge. And what does Motor think of this strange thing around her best pal's neck?

  10. Love the pics of Motormouse! Pheeber sure won the lottery when she got the Bayfield Bunch residence as her new home:) So glad things are working out, I was concerned the the Motor may not like sharing y'all with a new dog.

  11. I have found that if you fasten a couple of electrical ties from the cone to their collar it keeps them from getting it off and it doesn't have to be too tight. They get use to the cone quickly. A little discomfort sure beats having her lick her incision open and having to have it stapled.

  12. I miss all my doggies... but I sure know what you mean. I always wanted to make them comfortable and happy. I usually DID take that annoying thing off their head, but I was always really careful to watch their every move. Dogs are awesome!

  14. Hope with being as active as she is you have better luck with the collar than we did with Rigg's, within 5 minutes of getting him home he had it off and the attachments broke off so it wouldn't go back on. We were lucky as he never even looked or noticed his stitches and healed perfectly.Pheebe will gain some of her spunk back in a day or so, the bigger they are the more stuff they use to knock them out. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...

  15. Your last paragraph is so true--our beloved pets just don't understand and it would be so wonderful if we could explain. Take good care of Pheebe.

  17. Pheebe is young and will bounce back quickly. Hope the bouncing is not going to cause too much trouble for her or you! We've had dogs with that collar also, and yes, they can get used to it after a short time.

Agree -- the best groaner in a very long time!
