SPRING IS BREAKING OUT ALL OVER:))

DSC_3565

AND ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR OUR MORNING WALK TAKES US BY A PAIR OF CANADA GEESE ON GOLDEN POND NEARBY

Turned out to be a very much most mighty fine Spring day.  Bright sunny sky’s with temps in the mid 50’s here beside one of the largest fresh water lakes in the entire world…….LAKE HURON.

Majority of my day was spent on yard work again & the muscle stiffness is feeling great.  Energy levels are holding well.  All bird feeders are up & we already have Red Wing Blackbirds & a pair of Cardinals coming in.  I can hear Blue Jays in the tall pine trees overhead & we have Juncos on the ground with Nut Hatches flitting between the feeders.  Also an assortment of Sparrow like birds including Black Cap Chickadees.  And of course lots of Robins.  Oh, the Turkey Vultures are back for another season too, roosting in the tall pine trees near by.  And, the Squirrels have already dumped one bird feeder.  Yes, another season of Squirrel wars has already kicked off!!

I have never been one of those people who have ever really won anything in my life except a Twist contest once back in the early 60’s.  (yes I know I have mentioned that a couple dozen times before but it’s the only claim to fame I have)  Guess my never winning anything is due to the fact I very rarely enter contest thingys so you can imagine my surprise this morning when I found out I had unknowingly won something.   What!!  And no, it wasn’t one of those sleazy online internet scams either.  Check out BIG DAWG & FREEWAY:))

JOE & NANCY have just wrapped up a great 6 days of touring around in their Jeep through the Grand Canyon National Park.  Joe’s got lots of photos too:))  Meanwhile, RUSS & NANCY are hunkered down somewhere north of Bishop California in bad winter driving conditions.  Weather’s better over near Oatman where JIM & SANDY have been checking out some stretches of old historic Route 66.  Looks like the only traffic they are encountering along the way are wayward Burrows:))  MIKE & JANNA made it back to Big Timber Montana & I sure know how Janna feels about being home to long hot showers, big comfy chairs & lots of kitchen space again.  I like lots of room in the kitchen myself when I’m fixin up my peanut butter & honey sandwiches…..10-4:))

Our rig still needs a major clean up but that will have to wait until we have the outside water turned on & all the yard work is caught up.  Always kinda feel sorry for our home on wheels when I look out the window & see it sitting there quiet & alone now.  For 5 months it took us wherever we wanted to go, kept us warm on cold nights, cool on hot days, kept our food refrigerated & gave us heat to warm it up.  Provided us with comfy beds & chairs, great music & fine flat screen TV viewing.  Engine ran great & aside from a slight hydraulic leveler problem & a main slide annoyance for awhile the rig looked after us real darn good again this past winter.  From the very minute we get home in the Spring we just abandon her every time to sit alone for months on end all by herself out there under the Pine trees.  Ya know, it makes a feller kinda sad to treat an old friend that way:((

A couple comments on last night’s photo about the guy with no pants on.  I’m sure anyone who has been to Quartzsite Arizona either knows or knows about this fella.  He is Quartzsite’s NAKED BOOKSELLER & folks come from far & wide to browse his large inventory of books & related material.  I think some actually come to browse the naked bookseller himself.  This man has quite a history & his name is Paul Winer.” It is reported that Paul has a very high IQ, was an actor in Hollywood, one of the 1rst Chippendale dancers, is an accomplished musician, had a band or two & has a total recall memory.  It was the death of his young daughter Celia that inspired CELIA'S RAINBOW GARDEN in Quartzsite Arizona.  You can read my post & see my photos of the day Kelly & I spent some time there back in February of 2010….OUR VISIT TO CELIA'S RAINBOW GARDEN.

  3. Congrats on winning the mittens. I love the geese on golden pond. And I nearly cried when you talked about leaving your Challenger all by itself and lonely.

  4. Ever since I've been reading RV blogs I've heard lots of mention of the naked bookseller. About a year or two ago I heard the story about his beloved daughter, and the memorial gardens that have been created in her honor. I had a chance to visit the memorial in Quartsite when I was in AZ back in Nov/Dec, and it is a beautiful tribute.

  6. Right now our Hiker is sitting by the garage with big "black streak" tears running down her face, looking at the road. Her bed still isn't made...I haven't paid any attention to her since she cracked open McGuyver's head Dec. 27th...
Meanwhile, I am getting my broom ready to ride into the Mayor's office and put a Hex on him so he will confront Burlington Northern Railroad and shut the d--- train horns up!..yes, our windows are open and Spring is here....:-(

  7. Thanks, Al, now I'm in big trouble with Donna, as she wants to know who Nancy is that's hunkered down with me! Enjoyed your post, as usual. Now I'll just spend the rest of the day trying to explain to Donna that she's the only woman I want to hunker down with.
