THE BRAIN FORGOT TO TELL THE BODY IT HAD GONE BACK TO BED!!

DSC_3614

HOWDY, I'M A MALE CARDINAL BUT THEY CALL ME 'BIG RED' IN THESE HERE PARTS

If I had sleeping pills in the house & had made the mistake of mixing one of them up with my vitamin pills this morning it would have explained my 'dead zone' day.  Don't think I have had one of those low energy falling asleep days since last summer sometime.  Maybe it mentally had something to do with the below freezing & biting east wind that greeted us as we stepped out of the house this morning.  The brain must have said to the body, 'that's enough of that baloney, I'm taking the day off & going back to bed!!'  Took my body awhile to realize the brain had left but when it did it crumpled me into my recliner whereupon I remained in a Zombie like state for hours.  Somewhere during the course of the day I did manage to regain consciousness long enough to take a few bird & squirrel photos though:))

OUR RESIDENT RED SQUIRREL

Donna in a comment on Thursday night's blog asks....Is it just me, or are you content to be home, puttering around the yard and smiling lots?? Lately your blogs have sounded more "satisfied" and "content", even though you're not in your RV.

Well Donna, the words 'satisfied' & 'content' are a stretch for me at the best of times.  With my restless personality a contentedly satisfied situation is a bit rare indeed.  The fact that I am busy right now with the big Spring clean up may give the appearance of me being happily content & I would have to agree with that in part.  I am at my best if I have an agreeable project of some sort on the go.  Upon our return from the Southwest each Spring I generally last about a month before the routines begin to settle in & kick off my seasonal 'hitch-itch.'  If I had my Druthers, I would sooner be on the road somewhere traveling the highways & byways of Canada & America's south & northwest regions.  I'm thinking I would like to be somewhere moderately warm in Arizona right now waiting for temperatures to rise before moving up into Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia & beyond.  There is still so much to see & do & so little time left to see & do it all in.

IT'S A PEEPING MOTORMOUSE

Kelly is back into the swing of things at Deer Park Lodge for another season so it will be pedal to the metal for her from now until late October sometime.  Oh how I wish we could head west in September & catch the remaining warm temps & Autumn colors in Colorado.

BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEE

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Judge: young man, it says here you shot and killed a California Condor. How do you plead? Defendant: Guilty your honor. Judge: GUILTY!? Don't you know how endangered these condors are? There are hardly any left at all. Defendant: Yes sir, I know, but I had to feed my family, we're so poor. Judge: That's no excuse. I fine you 30 days in jail. By the way, what does California Condor taste like? Defendant: It's real good, kinda like a cross between Bald Eagle and Whooping Crane!

Two duck hunters out on the marsh duck hunting. One says to the other, "we're not having much luck today getting any ducks." The other one says, " maybe we're not throwing the dog high enough."

  1. Looks like that cardinal has an issue with its beak. Can't say that I got much of a chuckle out of the groaners tonight. :)

  6. Well, you should head west in September and then Kelly can catch up with you in October when she is done. Love your cardinal pictures. Had a pair at my feeder the other day. It's been a mighty cold spring. Those artic blasts of cold and wind sap one's energy. This last winter was "glacial." Groaner's corner was hilarious. You take care.
