TODAY WE MET UP WITH LAURIE & ODEL:))

DSC_3120

We never know who are reading our blogs out there & we bloggers never know when we may have written something that is going to ‘stir the pot’ so to speak.  The Borrego wind Gods obviously took offense at my mention in last night’s blog about the ‘storm that never happened.’  In full blown revenge mode, temperatures dropped late Saturday afternoon & the gusting winds beat us up all night.  For me it was the basic ruin of another day as I was up at 2:30 again unable to sleep.  Headache & feeling yukky.  Yep, gotta watch what you put in these blogs alright!!

We are aware that our time here in the Southwest is rapidly winding down for another season.  We can either remain here in Borrego Springs until it is time to head for home or we can flex our traveling wings & expand our horizons a bit.  Because we have not seen a lot of new territory this year or even the year before, we have opted to bite the gas bullet & head into some new areas we haven’t been before.  I think it is important for us to do it this trip while we are here because it is a long way home & an even longer way back again.

A STRANGE LITTLE BUG

Turned out to be kind of a throw away day for me & I spent a lot of time dozing in my chair & catching up on some computer stuff.  Winds diminished & the day turned out sunny & warm.  Just couldn’t summon up the energy to get with it though.

WE ARE THE 3RD RIG FROM THE RIGHT AT DEAD CENTER

It was just over a year ago at the BBC Breakfast Club in Bisbee Arizona that we first met Laurie & Odel from SEMI-TRUE TALES OF OUR LIFE ON THE ROAD.  Today we met Laurie & Odel for the second time at the Anza Borrego State Park in Borrego Springs California.  They coincidentally arrived in Borrego the same day we did just a few days ago.  I would have to say they are one of the most well known & liked couples out here in the RVing blogging world & all the folks that have have met Laurie & Odel would surely agree.  Easy folks to talk to & feel at ease with.  We had been following Laurie’s blog about their recent Motor Home’s renovations & today it was nice to see how well all the work turned out.  It’s a new Scoopy for them, they are happy with the results & it shows.  We stayed for an hour & half covering the usual RV topics about travels, friends in common, future plans & past reflections.  All the best in your journey guys.

  2. I am really enjoying your photos, Al, even more than usual. Also, you are so right about Laurie and Odel. I had no idea the RV blog world was this huge place, and read only Laurie's blog for a few years. Last summer when I met them, she mentioned you and Rick and I didn't have a clue who you were. Ha! How things changed after that! But Laurie was my first blog mentor, so I really have to honor that, no matter how good you are, Al.

  4. Glad the new camera is working out well for you. You just never know when you buy a newer version of something that you liked and were familiar with. It's even worse for those of us who don't crave every new model that comes along.

I'm also glad to hear you are going to see some new sights. You never know what is down the road that you might find is the best yet.

  5. Really like the photo of the beetle. I hate bugs but I love taking pictures of them...is that sick or what? Glad your new camera is working out. We have not had the pleasure of meeting Laurie and Odel but I tried her recipe for roasted Brussels Sprouts and, believe it or not, it was good...and I am not a veggie eater! Glad you had a nice visit.

  11. Your new camera looks like a keeper for sure!

We haven't met Laurie and Odell on our travels but they are at the top of the list of RV'ers we'd love to meet!

Looking forward to seeing where you head to next. How about Las Vegas - lights, cameras, action and a nice huge RV resort??

  14. Yea!!! Let's go, Bayfield Bunch..Let's spread our wings and land in a totally different and new spot...We really need to do more of that ourselves..Funny how you get settled in the same spots every year...In the words of our youngest daughter.."Hey, Mom,...thats why you wanted to be mobile, right?" Right Chris..and in the word of a famous blogger "10-4"...

  18. Well, that's what I get for dragging my feet!! If I had sent a quick note when I saw that you were over in Borrego Springs and even mentioned it in a comment on my blog, I might have joined you two and Laurie/Odel for the little 'meet 'n greet' you folks had yesterday. Glad you were able to visit for awhile though.

I'm with you Al, the wind was very dsturbing the other night. I, too was up around 2:30 thinking for sure something was going to 'give'. I came out and moved everything around to roll in the slides but ended up deciding to just bring the bedroom one in. I crawled into bed and. . . . that did the trick for me. It really moderated the rocking movement that kept waking me!!
