I THINK THESE FELLOWS BETTER GET OUT THEIR WIRE BRUSHES & GET TO WORK ON ALL THAT RUST

Every morning Kelly & I have to put our referee hats on when it's time to feed the gang.  3 separate food dishes have to placed well apart.  Max & Checkers wolf their food down in about 20 seconds flat but our little Motormouse is a slow eater & likes to take her time.  As soon as the big guys slurp down their yummy breakfast they immediately surround the Motor & wait with intense stares focused on her food dish.  Needless to say this a quite intimidating to the little Mouse & her wee worried face sure shows it sometimes.  This is where the referring comes in to save the day.  One of us has to physically stand guard over the little Monkey Face & her dish, especially if the little Sweet-ums goes for a drink of water & a gargle.  If we didn't do that, the 2 big circling food sharks would gobble up her remaining breakfast in a second!!  Same  thing again at night.  The 3 of them are the best of Pals & get along great.....except when there is food involved.  I will try to get a picture of that daily morning stand-off shortly.

MAX, SNOOZING ON THE COUCH

Checkers & the Motor got into a really nasty scrap 2 years ago in Borrego Springs when a piece of chicken was accidentally dropped on the rig's kitchen floor.  Blood was drawn on both sides & we had two very upset doggies with bruised feelings for about an hour afterwards.  I felt like an NHL referee having to quickly step in & break up the brawl that time.

SOME PORT ALBERT ONTARIO FISHERMAN

Kelly headed east early this morning to visit one of her daughters & grandchildren in Cambridge,   I headed north to pick up a mobility van in the town of Goderich.  Had a couple people to move around in two different towns today & I was back in Goderich around 4 in the afternoon.   And, that's when I got really upset with myself.  I had lost my Jeep key!!!!  I knew for sure I had put it in my coat pocket when I locked the Jeep earlier in the day & picked up the van.  Somewhere during the day as I was in & out of the van 2 dozen times, that Jeep key somehow got out of my pocket.  I knew Kelly had a spare key so I got on the phone to see if she was home from Cambridge yet.  Nope not yet but she was on her way & about an hour's drive from where I was.  So, nothing to do but bluster & fume at myself for carelessly losing the key until she arrived with the spare one.

I HEADED FOR GODERICH TO PICK UP MY MOBILITY VAN THIS MORNING (notice our leafless & barren trees now)

Normally whenever I get a different vehicle I always get spare keys made but when I went to get that done a few months ago at 'Canadian Tire' they told me I would have to go through Chrysler.  I can't even begin to tell you how mad I am about that right now because I know what a total financial rip off it is going to be to get a new key.  Just another greed driven profit line for another greed driven car company I suspect!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ok, that's enough of that or I'm going to pop a gasket.  We'll find out more details tomorrow on getting a replacement key.

WAITING FOR KELLY TO BRING ME THE SPARE JEEP KEY

Wandering Willy took a nasty little tumble Wednesday in Canyon De Chelly (pronounced De Shay) down in Arizona resulting in an injury to his jaw.  He managed to pick himself up, dust himself off & in a bit of Geezer confusion was redirected on his wayward journey by what Willy called, 'a toothless old native.'  That re-direct led Willy along a Canyon path to where he met what he called, 'a nice young Navajo Lady who had a..........'  But hey, I'm giving his story away so why don't you go to WW's site at WANDERING WILLY'S TRAVELS & read it for yourself.  And check out the photo of him at the end of the day after he lost his........... Well, you'll see!!  He might need a little cheering up:))

SOME LAKE HURON FISHERMEN HAVE MORE COMFORTS THAN OTHERS

I got a chuckle out of the photo below that I took this morning in a hospital parking lot.

IMG_2594

These two Mennonite fellows got out of a pick-up truck with a non Mennonite driver.  They stood & talked to each other for a minute both holding their Tim Horton's coffee, then began walking across the hospital parking lot.  They soon stopped as I saw one fellow hand something to the other fellow.  I noticed they assumed an old familiar huddle type position with their hands up around their faces.  Seconds later I saw the puffs of smoke around their heads.  These guys had lit up a couple cigarettes.  They walked a little further & were obscured by some cars, but a minute later I saw them walking back with what appeared to be their wives in tow.  That's when I took the picture because I was looking hard to see if the guys still had their cigarettes going or had hastily ditched them when the women folk came out of the hospital's front door.  I have enlarged the pics trying to see if the boys still had their smokes & just by the way their fingers are being held I think they are still clutching their smokes.  Looks like the one lady might be a tad disappointed by that.  Just thought it was kind of humorous seeing the Mennonite fellas having a smoke with their Snortin Horton morning coffee:))

NEARING SUNDOWN ON LAKE HURON NEAR KINCARDINE ONTARIO LAST SUNDAY

GROANER'S CORNER:((  And a few thoughts by Will Rogers on growing old..............

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~  One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago, when men beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And, finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

  1. I wouldn't want to face that lady in the picture if I was smokin'. I've seen that frown before, many times!

Did you go over every inch of the mobility van, especially under the driver's seat, under the mat, etc.? After you pay an exhorbitant amount of money for a new key, you will find the old one. Put it somewhere safe, that you will remember!

  3. Trust me Al... you will not be a happy camper when you see the price of the new key if you have one that has the built in FOB! I wanted a replacement key for our Jeep Liberty and it was a $200.00 key! Not pretty!

  5. If you do spit, make sure it's not into the wind or that would just make your entire day even worse!!

  6. We needed to have a new key made for our Suzuki XL-7, which wasn't even a "chip implanted" key. Took about 20 minutes for someone at the Suzuki dealership to make the key, and it cost $51. Sure glad it wasn't a Jeep key! The other lady in the picture seems to be enjoying the trouble the guys is getting from his own lady! And yes, both guys seem to be holding on to their forbidden smokes.

  7. You are right... It is just a rip off that we need to go to the auto dealer to get a spare key. Love the groaner's corner today. He is one of my all time favorites. Stay safe.

  9. Oh, dear...food wars!
My little Chihuahua foster dog was starving when he was rescued, and as tiny as he is, he still bolts his food down, and then tries to eat the larger dog's food.
Now I feed them in separate rooms, it is so less stressful for all concerned.

I always love your beautiful pictures, thanks.
