A LONG 12 HOUR WORKING DAY & I HAVE LOST MY VOICE:((

SUNSET ON GRAND BEND'S PIER

It's 3:15 a.m. Friday morning & of course I am wide awake sitting in my recliner.  The patio door beside me is open with a slight wisp of cooler air bringing in the sounds of nearby crickets.  I love the sound of crickets.  A great horned owl can be heard in the pine forest.  I am saddened now by the Owl's sound.  I am reminded of the little Horned Owl we tried so hard to save a couple of months ago.  Night has always been my favorite time & I now feel a kinship with the Owl.

GRASS GROWING ALONG GRAND BEND'S BEACH BOARDWALK

The thought occurred to me sitting here that maybe I should start the blog early today just in case.  I am aware of a feeling in my chest that I have not had for many, many, years & I think the last time I felt this feeling in my lungs it was referred to as the opening round of a chest cold.  I have been doing something these last bunch of days in this humidity that I now seem to recall is a 'no-no!!'  I have had the A/C vents in the mobility van blowing directly on me for hours at a time.

SUNSET REFLECTIONS

Figured I'd better start the blog early just in case I end up at the end of this day in a somewhat altered physical state.  I am not prone to illness but then again......I'm not exactly 18 anymore either.  Geeeezzzz, when did that change!!

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging comments since my brief techno-meltdown at the computer keyboard Wednesday night.  That one word blog seems to have garnered more of a response than my long drawn out posts generally do so I guess that should really tell me something.  Mr. Blabberfingers here needs to pay much good attention to this!!!!

I am now nearly 3 days behind in my blog readings & of course the guilt feelings are really having a field day with my emotions about that.  It just seems there are so many blogs out there to read & the numbers are increasing daily.  I have got myself into a position now where trying to keep up with them all is becoming a bit of a time problem for me.  And of course I always feel bad for not dropping comments on all the blogs too.  I probably need a bunch of non working, cold, wet, rainy days to get myself back up to speed again.

Well, it's nearly 5 a.m. so that means it's shower & coffee time for another beginning to a new day.  Pip Pip.......here we go:))

Well, it is now 7:30 Friday night & it is a good thing I started this blog off in the wee hours of this morning.  Had myself a very busy 12 hour day & whatever virus or cold bug I have in my chest at the moment has seen fit to remove my voice.  Whether it's from the vans A/C or a bug I've picked up in one of the nursing homes I don't know.  When I try to talk, I squeak!!  Needless to say, I am feeling like an old bag of dirt so I'm just going to add a few pics & call it a day.  Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow but there are runs lined up for me Sunday & Monday.   Maybe tomorrow I will just keep a low profile around the house, stay out of the heat & humidity & get caught up on the latest buzz out here in blog land.  And oh yes, I hear there has been some more buzz alright:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((  John Wayne once said, "Life's tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid."  Ya know what.....I can somehow identify with that one sometimes!!

  1. You may have lost your voice, but at least you haven't lost your Blabberfingers! Rest well! :)

  2. Boy, do I know that feeling. I long ago had to give up posting comments on everyone's blog. Now I find I keep track of more than I actually read. Many are just skimmed. I read the title and first paragraph and that may be all.

We all have a real life and that is what it's all about. It's great to stay connected via the Internet, it's easy to let it overtake you.

So no guilt, Al. Read and enjoy as you can and WANT to!!

  6. Hey, I'm just glad your a blogger and not a commentator so I don't have to listen to your "squeaky" voice!!

I imagine driving a bunch of old folks around in a van, and then being in and out of rest homes, would put you at risk for picking up some kind of bug. I absolutely detest having to go to a hospital for any reason because they are full of potential problems.

And, it's true, the blogs just keep on coming and it's pretty easy to fall behind in just a few days.

  7. Doctors swear that you cannot catch a cold or virus by A/C vents or a "draft". Well, I (like you) seem to get a lot of colds that way! Stay indoors tomorrow, drink lots of liquids, rest in bed (or the reciner) and don't talk. Just keep your blabberfingers working fast and furious.

    Rest up, friend.

  9. Rest and feel better soon, Al. Even though your physical voice is temporarily gone, you can communicate through your blog.

  10. OK, Al, now you have validated poor Michael's assertion that air conditioning gives him a cold--I always poo-pooed him, now I have to eat crow! Hope you are feeling better soon!

  11. You may be under the weather, but your photos are so spectacular. Take good care of yourself.

  12. Al, it's too labor intensive to comment on every blog you read. I think people know you are following and reading, and when something comes along that you feel the need to comment on, then do so, but please don't feel the need to comment on every blog.
You follow alot of blogs, and people don't expect you to comment on each one after you read it :)
    At least I hope not?

Take care of you, get some rest and don't blow that AC on you anymore, you should know better!
    (smiles)

    Cheers!

  13. Love those blabberfingers! Friend Al, I have to tell you this: your pictures seem to getting better and better all the time, and you started at a splendidly high level. You have fine control of your lighting, depth of field, and so on. The grass picture was overwhelming, and the backlit sunset shots at the pier -- magnifique! The silhouettes (sp?) of the people add a lot of depth to your subjects. Have I said enough? I can always add more if you need it!

  14. You are soooo right about the amount of bloggers followed and commenting....I have learned in a few short months that you don't count followers OR comments...Blog for yourself...It's a catharsis for me..I blog, read it....and comment to myself either "that was pretty good" or "that sucked pond water"...Take care of yourself ...There is nothing WORSE than a summer cold!
