JEEP FEVER.....IT'S WEARING ME DOWN:((

DAISIES IN A CLOVER FIELD

Well, after all the time & effort I put into Wednesday night's blog finding & arranging all the photos I am tonight......discouraged:((  All the photos for Wednesday night's post were on our external hard drive & I had long & hard time retrieving them because the external drive kept failing.  I'm wondering if that somehow had something to do with the blog not publishing because of incomplete photo data or something.

DOCKSIDE IN GRAND BEND

I had trouble with that drive a few months ago & took it into the shop.  It was checked over & found to be working OK but it's acting up again.  I might be in the middle of getting some photos & it will just quit.  I then have to pull out the power cord & keep re-plugging it in to get it working again.  Had to do that 7 times last night & in the end my pictures didn't publish anyway.  We are going to get another external drive & see if we can get all our stuff out of the troublesome one into a new one.  May have to use my hammer & crowbar!!  (

(My heart stood perfectly still tonight as it took 85 seconds for the blog to publish with no error message)

AN OLD FORGOTTEN FOOT BRIDGE

I think tonight I am just going to keep things simple & use some file photos from the desktop computer.

FROG ROCKET ON A LAUNCH PAD

It was a long day.  The toilet in our rig doesn't hold water anymore so that means the seal is shot & has to be replaced.  That is not a job for the faint of heart like myself so will have to find somebody who is willing to do that.  Wanted to make sure the black tank was sanitized so I drove the rig to our nearest dump station in Exeter which is a 40 minute drive away & flushed a couple full tanks of water through it with a copious amount of bleach included.   Between each tank full of water & drove the rig around for a couple miles to give it a good slosh.  I will probably do that whole procedure one more time before finding someone to fix that seal.

THE BONNIE DOON MANOR OVERLOOKS GRAND BEND'S BEACH & LAKE HURON

This afternoon I had a mobility van run to London & back.  Heavy torrential rains made for some bad driving again so by the time I got home late this afternoon I was beat.  Luckily I have tomorrow off so hope to catch up on things at home here.  Grass is about 20 feet tall & there seems to have been some kind of nuclear weed explosion with all the rain lately.

SPLISH SPLASH I WAS TAKING A BATH

We have just been going round, & around, & around, with this Jeep thing.  Up until last night I was leaning strongly toward the 2005 four cylinder red Jeep in Goderich but after receiving emails & comments yesterday I became discouraged about the 4 cylinder Jeeps being underpowered.  Kelly spent way over an hour last night reading Jeep forums & reviews.  I emailed some Jeep friends for their opinions & emailed some other fellows about their thoughts.

MY HEART IS STILL IN THE OLD WILD WEST (This is the cover off a picture book I had as a kid)

This morning my head swung back to the 2009 yellow 6 cylinder Jeep in Exeter & for the rest of the day I was mentally exhausted with red Jeep this or yellow Jeep that!!  Which was the better deal & why.  For sure the yellow Jeep is the better vehicle but for sure it is the vehicle with the biggest price tag too.  Pros & cons back & forth.   Should I trade the motorcycle or not.  The red Jeep place will take the bike on trade but the yellow Jeep place won't.  Tonight I am totally all Jeeped out & am going to have to go stick my head in a pail of cold water for half an hour just to put the fire out.  Say, has anybody out there got a good Jeep deal for the Bayfield Bunch:))

<<<< A SUNSET SAIL IN BAYFIELD

GROANER'S CORNER:((

Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies, and walks.  They'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental
and medical treatment , wheel chairs etc.  And they'd receive money instead of paying it out.  They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly if they fell, or needed assistance.  Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.  A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell. They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.  They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool, and education.  Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, P.J.'s and legal aid would be free on request.  Private & secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard & gardens.  Each senior could have a P.C., A T.V., radio, and daily phone calls.  There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The "criminals" would get cold food,  be left all alone, and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week.
Live in a tiny room, and pay $5000.00 per month and have no hope
of ever getting out.    Justice for all.

  1. Sorry Al/Kelly, no Jeep here. :(
    Good luck with the decision.
    Good photos again tonite!
I had a 4 cylinder car and never really noticed the difference in power as much except when it came to filling up the gas tank. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. Do you need all that power? Tell me you are doing to enter into mud bogging?
That would be worth reading about!!! *snicker*
But then again you would need a winch...

My livewriter published slow tonite too, may be the hemisphere or something...

    Cheers!

  2. I loved the picture of the old foot bridge.

Do I remember correctly that you have a Toshiba computer, fairly new? Or am I confusing you with another computer geek? But you say it's an external hard drive that is giving you trouble. I like the connection with other folks that I get from the internet, but all in all I'm ready to throw my two computers into the river!

  4. Sorry about your Jeep dilemma. We love ours but it is a 6 cylinder. Hope you can find just the right one.
I laughed until I cried when I read the "Groaner's Corner." The sad truth is it would be "Justice for All."

    Take care!

  5. A faulty external HD could definitely be the cause of your '400 errors', Al. If it is starting to fail, then it will ultimately crash altogether. Tough decision on the Jeep for sure. I would think you'd probably get more for your motorcycle selling it privately than on a trade-in. Hope something works out on one of them for you.

  6. Hi Al; Like your fellow bloggers I believe in power. When your roaming the desert you want the odds on your side.

I do have a question. On one of your blogs you mentioned referring to book on boondocking what book was that?

  7. Al,

Don't beat yourself up too much, I fought with Blogger yesterday and lost my post and pictures 3 times before I got it to post. Computer gremlins on a world wide rampage I guess.

FWIW, I have a 20 year old Jeep pickup with the 4 cyl and 5 spd manual trans and it's done everything I needed it to do. Maybe not as fast as some folks would like, but works fine for me.

    Enjoy your blog alot!

  8. Oh my gosh! My brother had the same wild west book you did. I haven't seen that cover for years. It sure brought back some good memories of my brother sleeping in his cowboy outfit. That was more than 50 years ago now. Sigh.
